I nominate Rena:

https://img5.modelmayhem.com/061106/22/45500fa6da6e7.jpg

https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=66958

She is beautiful, classy, smart, creative, passionate about modeling, fashion, and fashion photography. She is a great model, incredibly graceful, never struck a bad pose.

She is a true fashion model.

As far as character she is a humble, compassionate, and vulnerable human being with just a bit of a princess thrown in for a good measure. ;-)

VOTE FOR RENA!

I'm with Fotticelli! Even if Rena's assets were limited to those "perfect pout' lips, those mile-deep brown eyes and those go-on-forever legs, I'd still vote for her. But she's so much more. So versatile that she can do high fashion as gracefully as fine-art nude. And behind all that uncoventional beauty, I have found her to be as warm and ... well, I'll say it, dammit ... NICE a person as she appears to be in her profile. She is definitely a model who deserves all the success that she has ... and more!

wow.... not sure where you got your nominees from. There was a different MM Model of the year thread that included a few.... I'll name them.

Miya
https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=2802
she is constantly reinventing herself. More widely published than most agency models on this site, miya is still down to earth and can be seen frolicking often in the forums.

Jeska Vardinski
https://www.modelmayhem.com/pics.php?id=14883
clearly one of the most shot models on this site. Her list of MM contacts and shoots with MM photographers now numbers into the hundreds.

Liz Ashley
https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=26159
consumate pro, I am certain that there are few other models on this site who have persued their careers as aggressively as liz.

Shyly
https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=2809
if someone were to ask me who I think was the most important model to have come along in this generation, I think shyly would be my choice. She has changed more minds on what defines beauty then any one else I know.

Rebecca Miller
https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=45777
pure human eye candy.
rebecca emotes sex appeal. She has shot with nearly everyone within driving distance. She has the patience of a saint.

Well, if you can narrow down your nomination to 1, it would help. There is a difference between a good model and a model who deserves a title. I like most of your choices. But they didn't give me the same sort of inspiration Jessalyn gave me. Maybe it is just that I don't know them as well. But read my words on why I nominated Jessalyn and see if you can come up with similar stuff about your choice. I am sure they all deserving of the best in someone's eyes. . .

Jessalyn!

https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=169688

I worked with her in October.  I've watched her body of work climb like a skyrocket in the last few months.  I cannot think of a single model on MM who has shown such a dramatic improvement in their portfolio in such a brief time.

Jessalyn.  Although I know lots of models on MM that are beautiful inside and out, I think Jessalyn captures Tyler's idea of MM the best...a modeling site with a myspace feel to it.  She is so versatile that she can do any kind of images a photographer could want and is intelligent enough to carry on a conversation on any topic.  Jessalyn's port is rock solid all the way and the sky is the limit for her!

My vote's for Envy all the way, there's already a bunch of links to her mm on this thread so I won't add another, suffice to say it's girls/women like her that made me stop saying "model" like it was a dirty word and start remembering what beauty is all about...

heres a thought..shouldnt the "model of the year" have accomplished something other then just being pretty, popular or a fav of some photographer...

It is ironic to me. You have been here since September of 2006, I have been here since the beginning of 2005. If you go over the old threads when i was a more active poster here, you would see me on ALL of the lists.

How quickly people forget. I have shot with over 30 artists on mm. There is nothing wrong with being successful on both sites. I don't have room on this site to list them, but since I use mm and omp both, I have a link to my omp site. Doesn't mean I am an 'omp' model more than an mm model. In fact, the powers that be made me a mod a year ago on my photographer portfolio.

However, as you look, most of the old timers do not post on these threads as they realize it is all a popularity contest and people forget that someone who was very active on this site for the first 6 months of this year (before you were here) spent most of their time working with artists off of mm.

However, as up and coming model of the year, I continue to vote for Jessalyn, though I think that all the nominees are worthy of mention, and they all have good portfolios.

I would bet that if you looked at the list of photographers who are members of this site and not omp you would see that I have in fact shot with SEVERAL (and more than several of the nominees) mm photographers this year.

I don't want to be part of the voting process, as obviously I am not 'qualified' in your  opinion. I just think you should look more carefully at the nominees even if you haven't heard of them.

Nobody even mentioned Nerlande who really made a huge reputation through mm. Anyway, rant done. BTW, I erased most of my port about a week ago, and so you really don't have an idea of my range.

Just think you should be open, and not snarky. Have fun counting the votes when you come back. I think you will find that there are some really good models, but these kinds of threads make a lot of really good models feel left out as they either a) don't post in the forums or b) are not part of the popularity list. Another model you left out, though she has been around a long time is theda.

Agreed. Does making couture jewelry and selling it, being published in a few books, and shown at galleries count? And what about the evolution of my work as a photographer as well.

Thank you. But you know, at a certain point, mm and omp are too small for some of us. And while I really thank Rossi for her nomination, I don't think that the OP really has been here for more than 4 months, so I excuse him for his inexperience. We can just sit around and snicker about how fame by posterbation is always a fleeting thing. I personally don't think someone who has not been around for the entirety of 2006 is qualified to decide who counts as being an mm or omp model.

Also, I really don't want to be part of this popularity contest anyway, though some of the models nominated are really good. Having photographed Mme. Psychosis, theda, Mockingbird Girl and several other models on mm and having a good portfolio on my photographer ports is much more important than winning a contest.

Good. I am not even nominated. It would be stupid to vote for me, and I don't need confirmation to know that the photographers I really want to work with do know who I am, and are pretty much unanimous in their desire to photograph me, despite my lack of model measurements. I also have met Betcee May, who is an amazing model, but she does most of her work on omp as well....mm is for playing, most of the models I know actually make money more on omp. I am honored to be well known on both sites....at least by the people who have been around.
