I'm thinking getting some new ass ... I mean, well, errr ...glass. Oh, and a full-frame thingy inside because its full and all that. I'm pretty sure someone told me Tonka was good but is it as good as Hotwheels? Dec 26 06 04:20 am Link Alix Andrea wrote: Never that...not as long as pictures of you are gracing my portfolio. Dec 26 06 04:23 am Link Eric Haywood wrote: You better be shooting with a D2Xs ... she's a beautiful model. A shame to waste her look on a Canon Dec 26 06 04:24 am Link Maybe everyone should stop saying, "I prefer paid work, but I'm willing to do TFP." Um, is there somebody who doesn't prefer paid work? Dec 26 06 04:25 am Link Eric Haywood wrote: Haha I think you guys are mistaking what I said, im not shallow or not going to shoot with someone just because I dont like their camera, a lot of times I just want to know. What can I say? I love science, I'm a biochem major, I have an inquiring mind. There is no Will/wont shoot list, I just wanna know! Dec 26 06 04:26 am Link Tim Baker wrote: If you are really interested in top quality glass go for Coca Cola.. their glass also serves as containers for liquids.. added bonus. They all have the full-frame thingy AND the image stabilization gadget. Some people had reported some distortion at the edges (and the center) but nothing a few hours of PS work can't fix (I suggest heavy use of the Diffused Glow filter). Dec 26 06 04:27 am Link Tim Baker wrote: How about I just claim on my profile that I shoot with a D2Xs, even if I don't? Does that count? ONE.. everyone knows there is only one Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) out there. Could you please come up with something a bit more difficult? Dec 26 06 04:33 am Link Bryan Benoit wrote: Oh, ok. I heard about that Diffused Glow Filter .... I'd like to try that out. Tnx for the tips ... hope this doesn't get moved to Photography Talk thread or to some other website all together Dec 26 06 04:33 am Link Bryan Benoit wrote: Oh yeah? Dec 26 06 04:42 am Link I actually saw someone who list the equipments (photographer), still don't understand what's the point :-) Dec 26 06 04:46 am Link Um this thread is about do's and don'ts in a model's profile. Let's try to stay on topic please. Along the lines of don't state what you won't do instead stay with what you will but I have to mention those who say they don't do webcam interviews and especially those who go a bit further with it saying, I won't get naked on webcam interviews. Is their even a legit hiring company that would do a webcam interview? I didn't think so. comment from earlier I'd like to restate. If it's not a Heidelberg are you going to pass? Dec 26 06 09:50 am Link Don't lie about your stats. Looked at a profile today with a plus size model saying she was 100 lbs. There was no way she was less than 200 lbs. I honestly don't care what she weighs, I care how she photographs. However, if she can't be honest about that I'm guessing she isn't honest about most things. It just makes me leary to work with people that aren't honest. A lot of people don't list cities or put multiple cities as well. It makes it difficult to know if it's worth contacting you! Dec 26 06 08:42 pm Link Allen Coefield wrote: Exactly! A crappy photographer will take a crappy photo with the best equipment around. A great photographer can be creative and produce beautiful images with little to work with. Just because you drive a Porche doesn't make you a great driver. Dec 26 06 08:46 pm Link Thank you for all the wonderful tips! I think they are very informative and helpful. I definitely learned a few things. However, in reading this thread i see it mostly directed to the models when in fact....I see many photographers making similar mistakes. (Just my observation in the short time I have been on MM) Also, in regards to equipmentâ¦. I do not care what the photographer shoots on. Either you produce quality images or you do not. There are my thoughts. Dec 26 06 10:55 pm Link Do we also need to list if the camera uses a compact flash, secure digital or memory stick? How about JPEG, TIFF NEF/RAW? Not sure why this information is relevant. Dec 26 06 11:08 pm Link Maybe I better list that my camera broke a finger the other night and my strobes burn the stuffing off the back side of my hand last week. Dec 26 06 11:16 pm Link I use 100% nikon equipment....some 20 years old and some 2 years old. ......but did a shot once (just out goofing around) during an ice storm with a point and pray....uh....I mean point and shoot digital...and that photo ended up on brochures in over 100 Dodge dealerships across the nation on truck literature. Nice pay check......so lets dont judge the photographer by the camera.....that theory doesnt hold water. Dec 26 06 11:38 pm Link W.G. If you don't write eloquently or aren't good with spelling and grammar, ask someone who is to edit your profile for you. One of my New Year's Resolutions is to be more selective about who gets some of my irreplaceable time. It may not be worth much, but it's all I've got, and when you waste it, you don't get it back. Badly written profiles up the odds that this will be the outcome of my trying to book you. Don't be ashamed to ask for help. I'm looking to hire models, not copyeditors. I'll think much more highly of you if you can admit your shortcomings and take appropriate steps to deal with them than if you did it all by your ownself and it sucks.
