I am going to take a wild guess that you may want to invest some $$ and upgrade to the Tonka model at the very least.

Do you think walgreens would have that model? I'm thinking getting some new ass ... I mean, well, errr ...glass. Oh, and a full-frame thingy inside because its full and all that.  I'm pretty sure someone told me Tonka was good but is it as good as Hotwheels?

Never that...not as long as pictures of you are gracing my portfolio.

But I guess you won't be shooting with me again until I upgrade to a 5D...damn.

You better be shooting with a D2Xs ... she's a beautiful model. A shame to waste her look on a Canon wink

Maybe everyone should stop saying, "I prefer paid work, but I'm willing to do TFP."

Um, is there somebody who doesn't prefer paid work?

Haha I think you guys are mistaking what I said, im not shallow or not going to shoot with someone just because I dont like their camera, a lot of times I just want to know. What can I say? I love science, I'm a biochem major, I have an inquiring mind. There is no Will/wont shoot list, I just wanna know!

If you are really interested in top quality glass go for Coca Cola.. their glass also serves as containers for liquids.. added bonus. They all have the full-frame thingy AND the image stabilization gadget. Some people had reported some distortion at the edges (and the center) but nothing a few hours of PS work can't fix (I suggest heavy use of the Diffused Glow filter).

How about I just claim on my profile that I shoot with a D2Xs, even if I don't?  Does that count?

I am going to trade all my Canon L glass for Quantarrey stuff. I also have my eye on a Phoenix 500mm beauty. I wonder if they make the attachement for the new Bratz camera I got for Xmas?

Um this thread is about do's and don'ts in a model's profile.  Let's try to stay on topic please.

Along the lines of don't state what you won't do instead stay with what you will but I have to mention those who say they don't do webcam interviews and especially those who go a bit further with it saying, I won't get naked on webcam interviews.

Is their even a legit hiring company that would do a webcam interview?  I didn't think so.

comment from earlier I'd like to restate.

What difference does that make?  The ability to get good images is not up to the camera...is up to the photographer and his or her skill  and talents

Because when I first started shooting the best advice one of the first phtographers who shot me gave me was to ask what kind of camera the photographer shoots with and that usually determines the quality of the pics. So far he has been right, and I always ask. It would be nice for it to be on the portfolio, and more convenient, a lot of phtographers so this anyway.
Also just beause Im a mdoel not a photographer doesnt mean I dont know anything about cameras, and I learn more at every shoot. It's nice to know what kind of equipement is capturing my images.

If Vogue hires you for an assignment, are you going to ask what printing press they use to publish their magazine? If it's not a Heidelberg are you going to pass?

Don't lie about your stats.  Looked at a profile today with a plus size model saying she was 100 lbs.  There was no way she was less than 200 lbs.   I honestly don't care what she weighs, I care how she photographs.  However, if she can't be honest about that I'm guessing she isn't honest about most things.  It just makes me leary to work with people that aren't honest.
A lot of people don't list cities or put multiple cities as well.  It makes it difficult to know if it's worth contacting you!

Exactly!  A crappy photographer will take a crappy photo with the best equipment around.  A great photographer can be creative and produce beautiful images with little to work with.    Just because you drive a Porche doesn't make you a great driver.

Thank you for all the wonderful tips! I think they are very informative and helpful. I definitely learned a few things. However, in reading this thread i see it mostly directed to the models when in fact....I see many photographers making similar mistakes. (Just my observation in the short time I have been on MM) Also, in regards to equipment…. I do not care what the photographer shoots on. Either you produce quality images or you do not. smile There are my thoughts.
Cheers!

are you kidding me?   we should list our camera?    the camera does not matter!   its the photographer.    the camera just makes the job easier.

Do we also need to list if the camera uses a compact flash, secure digital or memory stick? How about JPEG, TIFF NEF/RAW? Not sure why this information is relevant.

I use 100% nikon equipment....some 20 years old and some 2 years old.  ......but did a shot once (just out goofing around) during an ice storm with a point and pray....uh....I mean point and shoot digital...and that photo ended up on brochures in over 100 Dodge dealerships across the nation on truck literature.  Nice pay check......so lets dont judge the photographer by the camera.....that theory doesnt hold water.

Here's an easy one.

If you don't write eloquently or aren't good with spelling and grammar, ask someone who is to edit your profile for you.

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to be more selective about who gets some of my irreplaceable time. It may not be worth much, but it's all I've got, and when you waste it, you don't get it back. Badly written profiles up the odds that this will be the outcome of my trying to book you.

Don't be ashamed to ask for help. I'm looking to hire models, not copyeditors. I'll think much more highly of you if you can admit your shortcomings and take appropriate steps to deal with them than if you did it all by your ownself and it sucks.
