...and I remember diane elaine roloson in a fishnet sweater sailing in a small rental sailboat on thunderbird lake during my peace corps training at norman, and we tipped over an open bottle of piper heidsieck brut champagne which my frendh prof bob malka said was the only one to buy and he knew she was worth it and it spilled silly in the bottom of the boat and we finished it at her house with candlight and i made a great b7w of just her face, the candle, the champagne glass, that fishnet sweater and two long blonde rough braids that has haunted me forever. she ran "the library" pub on main street and lived next door and made me a hot pastrami after we closed the pub and each time i would see "summer of '42" i would remember her world and diane and that summer when two-foot-long blonde hairs could be pulled off my blue-and-white norwegian sweater in the middle of french class on north campus and ken snowe, we called him neige, would cry out "shit!" and we all would smile...but i went to togo with the peace corps and she joined the air force as a captain in colorado and i searched hundreds of phone books in the wilmington, delaware library forroloson and never found her ... but don't tell anyone, it's a secret... =]
