With the matching colours of the backdrop and the loose drape (as well as the model's eyes, and pale makeup), it looks almost as if the figure is in the process of being created out of some void. Either that or melting into obscurity. The ambigious, slightly melancholy performance leaves scope for interpretation. Elegantly conceived and performed, and so striking and original.
