Hello...

My name is Scott and I am a photographer out of Longview, Tx. I am reaching out to photographers on Model Mayhem in the East Texas and West Louisiana area to see if any would be interested in shooting together for fun. Maybe we could even create an Ark-La-Tex photography club of some sort. I know that there are a couple of photography clubs already in the East Texas area, however, I am not sure about the Shreveport/Bossier area.

The goal of this group would be to involve a wide variety of photographers from those who shoot portraits, to those who shoot nature, to those who do street photography, to those who do still life type work, and everything in between (Even film shooters. Yes they are still out there). This would be a good chance for those to learn different aspects and techniques in other areas of photography they may be interested in. The group would be open to anyone, at any age, at any skill level. If you are interested please let me know. I am not necessarily wanting to be "in charge" of the group but would love to see something like this happen and would be willing to help put it together if someone else would like to help out as well. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.

A little background about me:
I've been shooting for over 15 years. I started with film photography developing and printing in a darkroom. I graduated from Richland Community College out of Dallas, Texas in 2001 with an Associates in Arts and Science with an emphasis in Photography and Digital Imaging. Once I graduated, I got into digital photography and have spent the last 11-12 years shooting solely digital. I officially created Scott Alan Photography in 2005 and ran the business part time from 2005 until the end of 2012. During that time I attended several workshops about photography as well as taught three workshops. I shot anything I could including: weddings and events, seniors, families, children, and even worked with some nationally known musicians and bands as well as up coming actors, actresses, and models. Towards the end of 2012 I ended up getting burnt out with photography and mainly the photography business, so I put down my camera as I lost my passion for the art. Early in 2013 I got the "photography bug" again but wanted to do something different. I decided to sell all of my DSLR gear and most of my "studio equipment" and shoot film again. I have gotten really interested in doing street photography and have enjoyed learning from those who have been shooting street for a while. It's been a humbling experience as it seems I am having a sort of fresh start again in a different genre in photography and rediscovering the beauty and process of shooting film. I am currently shooting a medium format Bronica ETRS, a Minolta Hi-Matic 9, Holga 120N, Holga 135, and a couple of Polaroid cameras. My favorite films to shoot are Kodak Portra 400 and Ilford Delta 400. I do shoot digitally at times, and when I do, I use a Ricoh GR or a Fuji x20.
