@Pats...Oh I meant to add, I now use a CB Bracket (and have been for 6 or so months now) and LOVE IT!!!! My secret weapon of choice is the reflector.... Haven't used a Scrim yet (heard they reduce the harshness of the sunlight from projecting onto the subject and allows you shoot in the harshest of light, so I'll DEFINITELY research it... THANK YOU for kicking/sharing knowledge--I LOVE IT!!! I'd love to meet and perhaps shoot with you one day :)

Hi Pats, I couldn't AGREE more and that's exactly why I used the flash. It was high noon or 1pm and I was getting to many shadows on my subject and therefore decided to use the flash as fill light.

At Roni---Ummmm, the rookie does ok and knows a little sir.... NOW please be quiet UNLESS you've something productive to say!!!! ROFLMBO!!!!

You should use a flash outside in many applications. It provides fill lighting in many situations so that you do not use many important details. Another useful application would be using reflector in combination with difusers and shims. One recommendation would be to use a bracket to minimize the possibilities of getting red eye and unwanted shadows that may be casted due to a flash.
