That may very well be. But, I'm not a delusional one.

I would ask, did you never emulate anything you admired? That's what's going on with most of the "cliche" things you're rallying against.

Was the first picture you took a groundbreaker?

I can't believe you of all people are complaining about this, look at your port. I see nothing in there I haven't seen before. There are still some good images all the same, even though nudes are the biggest cliche of all.

Of course, now we're all wrapped up in the biggest cliche of the modern day: the Internet argument.

Where is the "beating a dead horse" gif when you need it? And besides, it's a cliche. It really needs to be in this thread.

Can we talk about happy bunnies and butterflies now?

Actually, this is closer to flogging the greasy patch on the driveway where once, long ago, a dead horse used to lie.

What I would like to understand, but can’t quite grasp, is why viewing a cliché photo concept evokes ANGER in some people.  It’s one thing to not like a picture, but I can’t understand the level of hostility that I sense in some posts.  Why does including a piece of yellow caution tape in a picture literally drive some people to all out anger rather than a lesser reaction like irritation or boredom?

If art is supposed to evoke some feeling in those viewing it, maybe the cliché shots succeed after all.  ;-)

good point. I must say though photographic cliches don't bother me as much, cliches in paintings do make me feel nauseous but I don't know why I have such a strong reaction to them.

It was a joke to ease the building remorse resulting from the aforementioned dead bunny and bird.

I think taking an idea that most people think is cliche and worn out, but shooting it well would be a pretty good challenge.  Maybe we should start a monthly assignment or something and see what people come up with.  Do something productive rather than all the bitchin, pissin', and moanin'.

Here's a wings pic that I think is pretty F'n good.

I don't think everything has been done. How about an male overweight internet bully with wings - nude - on the beach - photoshopped so his skin looks like plastic.

I've not see this done.

Any volunteers

It will be original and horrible - like the donkey scene in "clerks 2"

Maybe add high heels and a sword cause that makes sense with nudes smile

Oh my God! I made one comment about something I found dull and overdone (that means me personally) in a way that was kind of a joke (to me anyway) and all the screamers come out of the woodwork. People, they are just pics..... I think we all need to take a bong hit and relax a little.

apparently the following are now also cliche:

portraits
fashion
glamour
fine art nudes
landscapes
macro

also, high-key and low-key images

and, black-and-white as well as color photography

I used to like "Wings" it was a pretty good show and it went a long way towards kickstarting Tony Shalhoub's career and helping him get better film and TV roles. Thomas Haden Church and Steven Weber were in that as I recall.

I am not a big fan of wings as visual elements if they are used just for the sake of using them. For example: GWC's using them in pictures where the only difference between their regular shots and the one with a model with wings, is ... the wings. If they are used in conjunction with a well thought out theme they can be interesting. There are a number of images with wings that look really interesting and good, as well as a huge number of images that look terrible. I dont really like shooting them. I have one image in my port "The Disaster Fairy" which really wouldnt work in context without having fairy wings.

Yes, each to his own...just don't make the rest of us have to look at it.

Hmmm....strange thing.....I don't see anyone holding a .44 Desert Eagle to you head and forcing you to look at such images.

Seriously - people starting these threads must have a hidden motivation. I can't imagine it would be anything other than to offer self congratulations for what they feel are the most creative bits of work we've ever seen, and therefore they have free license to spout what is art and what is not.

Get over it.  There are going to be people coming up the pike that are going to repeat every single concept thats ever been done.  Along the way they may come up with something new.  Let them discover, let them grow.

Remember where you are, folks. This is an internet site which offers a place for amateurs and pros alike to show their work. If you can't deal with that, then this isn't the place for you.

That's too much like right.

people would rather think their cliche is better than the next one.
