Heavy job losses in AI exposed industries

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles … osed-to-ai (paywalled)

BLS, the US government labor stats agency, just released job numbers from 2025 and saw declines in some industries. Now I don't know how that affects contract and hobby model-photography since this was never about ad campaigns and more about female form believe it or not, but for the types of employed models that BLS actually can count, they saw a 29.3% drop in those jobs

doesn't get more General Industry than this

I think this is important because a lot of models get into this kind of contract performance work that we pay and trade for, in order to build a portfolio for agencies who ostensibly will get them in campaigns and notoriety. They wind up only doing contract performance work. With that end becoming more scarce maybe people won't see portfolio building as a path to consider at all

personally I think there will always be people available to be models, especially if you pay or impress with prior work, but sorting and finding them will be more difficult as it gets more foreign and unfamiliar
