Forgive me if this topic is covered elsewhere, I did not have time to go through all of the postings.  I am looking for what others have found to be good platforms, resources to locate and book photoshoot venues.  I shoot a lot of lifestyle, boudoir and portraiture and seldom have use for a photo studio.  I prefer to shoot in a home venue, I have leased venues before through Peerspace here in Texas, but find the pricing to be somewhat outrageous and impractical.  I have used AirBnB when I travel after clearing photoshoot permission with owners of properties, but that seems like a challenging way to go about this and again the pricing doesn't allow for the kind of volume of shoots I would like to do.  Curious to know what others have used to find those diamond in the rough venues for shoots.

You find Peerspace outrageous? I looked on Peerspace in San Antonio. They show more than 300 spaces for under $100/hr, many around $50/hr. Given that Peerspace takes part of that fee, how much do you think people should be renting out their space to you for? What do you think is a fair rate for providing a space for shoots?

Don't be afraid to send an offer on peerspace and airbnb. Many times, AirBnB hosts will rent out for just a few hours, especially during slow times (mid-week, off-season). And some peerspace owners are open to negotiation too. Also, find a local AirBnB owner facebook group and post what you're looking for in there. I've had some luck doing that.

Another thing that works for me is finding a local bar where the rich people go and striking up conversations at the bar. I've had several offer up their luxury homes, sports cars, and more for free. They just like the idea of having a bunch of pretty girls running around their homes. Of course use your brain when doing this and be sure to set ground rules (no asking the girls for dates, keep it in your pants, etc.)

Hey Blue, don't worry about the background in your photographs. Spend your money on the most beautiful models you can find.

Howe, find out what causes that yellow cast on your photographs.

Arizona, Keep it in my pants? Cute.      28,000 posts... who, who

It's not often I'm at a loss for words, but I'm at a loss for words. Drunk posting at 2AM?

Perhaps "outrageous" is the wrong word.  It's personal preference.  The venues you point to I have browsed too, but they don't typically suit my needs.  There's not a lack of options, just a lack of options that inspire me at under $100 an hour.

Ok. I do advise keeping in mind and respect what studio and property owners provide and what is in it for them. If you are not inspired by your local Peerspace offerings you might try  dayuse.com for 4-6 hour hotel bookings at reduced rates from overnight stays.

Having more money than talent is certainly one way to skin the cat.

Know any real estate agents? Maybe you could exchange access to a location for creating listing photos for them? Is there a grand location you have your eye on? Is it possible to volunteer in exchange for a photoshoot.

I once made inquiries about staging a shoot at a grand movie palace from the '20. I found that they were so busy with renovation/restoration that they didn't encourage photoshoots. They did have large scale movie shoots for high location fees ie. a couple scenes in The Joker.

I ended up volunteering with the restoration efforts (which I enjoyed) and ended up being able to stage a fashion shoot which resulted in a magazine cover/layout saving a high location fee and made a contact for future shoots.

If you prefer to shoot in a home why not use the home you live in? Maybe pick a room with beautiful window light and keep it fairly empty while just changing out the seating as it gets used.

nicely curated, but certainly a higher average fee than Peerspace.
