I am working with newbie models and like to get some shots with 'attitude' and other expressions.
Any really good books/cards/PDFs out there to use as a guide for the model?

Honestly, I would just suggest creating individual Pinterest boards for each shoot you are planning. You can find a wealth of model shots there. You could even create different boards for different groups of expressions if you are creative with search terms.

Otherwise you can draw from monographs from established photographers and book mark pages, but I still see a Pinterest board as more useful.

I have an old drawing book called "Pencil Drawing for Fun" that has whole sections showing differing facial expressions, may be worth a look!

The words "attitude" & "expression" need to be removed from photographers vocabulary.

What attitude? Which expression?

Be more specific in your direction, learn how to have the model feel the chosen emotion you want, if you want a model to laugh, don't tell them to laugh, make them laugh, then drill down, make them giggle, or smirk, if you want silly, then bring out the silly. If you want a maniacal Kubric stare, then guide then into one.

Lower you head a bit, lower, fantastic, now eyes only up towards me, chin down, eyeballs up, now say your vowels slooooooooowly.
