While most of us are aware of how badly Brexit has impacted the British, the shock is just how STRONG that realization now is:

---

"(The Guardian)   Brexit has completely failed for UK, say clear majority of Britons – poll"

"Only one in 10 feel leaving the EU has helped their finances, while just 9% say it has benefited the NHS, despite £350m a week pledge according to new poll"

---

It's a stark reminder that in today's interconnected world, economic and political isolationism just isn't feasible.  The costs for the citizens are just way too high.  On everything from inflation that is far higher than the rest of the Western World, to the inability to get people to "pick the food in the fields to get it to the markets", and so much more.

But a 90% rejection figure as to just how massive of a failure it has been, is absolutely astonishing.

There are major lessons to be had for everyone...

YES.

In this century, there have been two major lessons of the great danger inherent in a democratic system; as the most legitimate of political systems, democracies can nevertheless fundamentally fail when the populace is successfully  demagogued with techniques perfected in the Third Reich, into supporting anti-democratic leaders and policies.

In England, "A largely populist, emotive and evidence-free campaign with the inspired slogan “Take back control” carried the day," - https://www.theguardian.com/news/2020/j … comes-next

In the US, it was the elevation of fecal sludge trump to the presidency and his continued grip on the Republican Party and likely restoration, aided by a constitution hobbled by undemocratic compromises at its adoption, and a massive propaganda and disinformation campaign, at least partially proving Lincoln's, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.”

We shall see about that in 2024.
