Blind Man by Mountain and Holy War by Thin Lizzy are a couple of classic stripping soundtracks

Trust me when I tell you that Dita von Teese has a lot more class than you. Stripping and model photography are inter-related in various ways, subtle and obvious.

If you have any doubt about it I can recommend the DVD, Crazy Horse Paris with Dita von Teese, showcasing her appearance there in 2009. The Crazy Horse numbers are also amazing with their extensive use of front projection lighting effects.
I was also watching an old film in German on DVD from the 70s, Ein total versautes Wochenende with Adriano Celentiano, which feature scenes in Crazy Horse. The venue itself changed a lot, while the show gradually evolved, the upbeat singing number Baby Buns features on both DVDs.

Just to show how old I am, I actually remember when that single was released in 1981. It's about someone getting into a relationship with a beautiful girl and then being horrified to discover that she's a glamor model in men's magazines. "My blood runs cold, my baby is a centerfold". Eat your heart out, Osama bin Laden. The lyric perfectly reflects the stuck-up, hypocritical, Moral Majority type conservatism of the early Reagan years. It sucks...the sweat off a dead man's balls.

In the 60s and 70s they didn't deal with that kind of bullshit, and the music was also better. T Rex is good, so is Suzi Quatro. "Half as Much as Me" is a favorite track.

Way to go Southy..

Leave him alone... those are some awesome tracks, I'd add Closer by Nine Inch Nails though...

I also remember that they released a follow-up single, "Love Stinks", which deservedly flopped.

No wonder this forum is called "Off Topic" - straight crest left five into insults and tear downs, right two into irrelevant accusations and full stop at discussing the Ultimate Photoshoot Playlist.

I start out the session by giving the model an opportunity to add some input to what we play - sometimes high energy, fast beat, sometimes EDM chill, sometimes theme songs from the 80's through current day.

My go to list includes a large variety from the 70's and 80's.

Runnin' Up The Hill - Kate Biush (original in 1985, just re-released)
Equalizer (original 1980's TV theme) - Stewart Copeland
You Belong to the City - Glenn Frey
I Go to Extremes - Billy Joel
Typical Male - Tina Turner
Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler
Paradise City - guns 'n roses

I know. I'm tempted to tell those assholes to take it somewhere else but I don't wanna get put in time out for calling them assholes. So I won't.

Girlschool or The Runaways might be good background music for a photo shoot.

More bullshit. I have no problem whatsoever with Ken Marcus or his work for Playboy and other magazines.

JSouthworth ("What is the modern equivalent of Playboy" - Feb 19th, 2023) where he repeatedly insisted that Ken Marcus's work was "conventional" and showed a "lack of originality".  Specifically, in regard to his classic Janis Schmitt centerfold.

Just to keep the record straight.

But enough of JSouthworth's thread hijacks...

Musically, during shoots, I tend to go more for "themes" that match the type of shoot that I'm doing.

For example, if it's a fantasy / daydreaming type of sequence , something like the more instrumental / trippy tracks from Pink Floyd may be useful.

Or for sequences where I want more "in your face / attitude", then some heavy metal (preferably with a female lead) may be in order.  Etc, etc.

I remember what I wrote; that his work was conventional in approach. That's an observation, not a negative criticism. I like his work.

Models I work with now who like music during our session prefer music of their choice, which is already in play lists on their phones. Ok, it's not always music I like.  But if it makes them happy and relaxed, so be it.

So what I was hoping for with this thread was songs related to photography or modeling..

Here's my next entry: Presidents of the USA - Supermodel

And thank you Joe Tomasone.

Metal with female lead vocals? You could check out Acid (Belgian band from the 1980s), Skew Siskin, Znowhite, Bitch (from LA with Betsy on lead vocals, 1980s onwards). And a few others like Igniter, Sentinel Beast..

Ein total versautes wochenende (A totally messed up weekend) is the German version of Saturday, Sunday and Friday, or in Italian, Sabato, domenica e venerdì. It's a comedy.
