Hi,  I am a new Model Mayhem member.

Recently I have been contacted by two "agencies" for upcoming shoots. I am skeptical about their credibility. Both emails ended in "@gmail" and both required that I reply back with my full name, mailing address, and contact info to be delivered an upfront check payment. They claimed to have been preparing a shoot somewhere locally for me. This all seems incredibly sketchy.

I would really like some feed back. Thank you.

My guess is a variation on the old Nigerian scam. They will send you a large check, then tell you there was an error as to amount and ask you to send back some portion of the check. Their check, of course, is bogus but real enough your bank will not immediately reject it.

Yes it's a scam, an old  one at that.

if either of the so called agencies contacted you via MM (in other words, if they're members) contact a moderator at www.modelmayhem.com/contactamod

They have no idea where you are located. It doesn't matter because there will be no shoot. Wouldn't it be more economical for them to bring you to their location?

No, they will ask you to forward an amount to a wardrobe provider, etc.

Also, the bank is required to make the funds available within a day or two. However when the check eventually bounces, the bank will come after you for the money.
