Are you freaking kidding me? Many models have a natural metabolism but for the girls that don't they see and unattainable goal they will do anything to reach. I love fashion, I love modeling but I won't deny that it promotes being very skinny, that would just be lieing to myself. America is very strange because it both has more obesity than anyone else and more eating disorders than anywhere else. It'd be nice if we could settle in between but we don't seam to be able to on a whole. Dec 12 06 09:34 pm Link Natalie Miller Designs wrote: He definitely does. Dec 12 06 09:42 pm Link Dr. Phil doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about most of the time Dec 13 06 12:28 am Link Cristina Ashley wrote: Has there ever been a bandwagon that he didn't climb aboard? Dec 13 06 12:30 am Link I caught the tail end of that show. What he was saying was valid but very general, and to target viewers, like all of his shows. He in the end any way summed up that he was ok with whatever the models weight was as long as they were in fact "healthy". (what does that mean? In who's eyes?) I can't argue the rest of the shows propaganda because I did not watch the whole thing in fact the television was merely on for background noise, while I loaded the dish washer. Dec 13 06 12:36 am Link Voluntarily watch Dr. Phil? LOL! Never got my condo either...LOL Dec 13 06 11:20 am Link You can just hear him now: "Now Susie..its time for you to get off your fat ass and join a gym or you're gonna be fat and lonely forever." (Hand claps resume) Dec 13 06 11:23 am Link I've always wondered - what is Dr Phil a doctor of? (edit) Gosh, did I kill the thread with that one, or what? Dec 13 06 11:23 am Link Marcus J. This one was horrendous. You just cannot blame the fashion industry for girls who have eating disorders. It's like blaming the NBA for kids who use steroids. No one is going to tell the NBA, "Look, you're setting up unrealistic expectations for kids. Why don't you throw a few guys on the team who are 5'10" and average build?" And that's what Dr. Phil was trying to tell the fashion industry. It's just a dumbass approach. Dec 13 06 11:53 am Link He has a bonafide PhD in clinical psychology from the Univ of North Texas. More on him at Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_McGraw Credential-wise, Dr. Phil is completelly legit. Not like Dr. John Gray, of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus fame, who got his PhD at a degree-mill give you lots of credit for your life experience place. His BA and MA are from Maharishi Research University of Switzerland (no longer in operation and had a questionable background). http://www.cultnews.com/?m=200311 http://www.rickross.com/reference/gray/gray6.html Dec 13 06 01:06 pm Link Gotta love Dr. Phil, solving complex social issues in 40 minutes. All you really have to do is tell people how they should act. We wish life was that simple. Dec 13 06 02:27 pm Link |
