Actually I think the subject matter of my avatar and the 1st shot in my port are "worse" than porn. What do you think?

um I suppose it depends  how you look at it ,I don't think porn is bad in the first place .... although there is bad porn , and I dont think an adult chosing to smoke is bad either.

I suppose that makes me neutral....

I would have to say that cigarette companies exploit and shed harm with no consciousness more than adult entertainment companies , but they are much larger corporations  with much more money...so of course they would.

Posing for porn and smoking can both be dangerous.  The statistical probability of harm from smoking is greater, I'd say.  You can protect your self from harm while making porn.  The only protection against smoking is to not do it.

Yeah, the "worst" needs to be in quotes. Porn is a "badboy" concept and a punching bag for comment. Porn in and of itself has no inherent bad qualities, but only the way its users respond to  it.

Sorry--misplaced anger! This photo not about me. Read the question!
Damn, I had to come back to this. Me--badass? Injecting what and why a dead prostitute? What the f**k are you talking about??

It all seems sort of silly to me. People think many things are porn like. It depends more on one's personal fetish. Perhaps the founder of this thread views smoke as being so sexy that it amps up their personal sexaul/porn experience. The worse than porn thing...I don't think so. It's a good headline to entice people to write about it though.

Can pictures of feet fall into the same category? Check it out at https://www.modelmayhem.com/posts.php?thread_id=73687

Its the "Foot Photos" forum under General Mayhem. Lots of good images.

To the smoke fetish photographers I say, "Viva the smoke." Crank it up and lets see some more.

I see your point but do know of several porn actors and actresses whom , taking all precations to protect themselves from harm still got harmed , some physically... so i mean really , i also had an aunt who smoked until she died , of old age , with no real problems relating to her respiratory system... smoking does not offend me , neither doe s good porn ( althought there is so little ) bad porn doesn;t even offend me it just bores me to tears and i suppose it insults my intellegence in some way or another.... whatever....

To some people smoking is porn... and thats kinda hot

Naw, my thinking is much more simple. People bad mouth porn as having no pupose and is even a sick process with no socially redeeming purpose and leads to all kinds of abherrEnt behavior. I was just contrasting those parameters to the process of smoking. NO I DON'T SMOKE!

Somewhat hit my personal sentiment. That is what the original question is about! To explore a topic photographically no much of how taboo it is!

You are not the only peson to suffer the agony of watching someone loved die potentially from smoking. Both my mother AND father died of lung cancer or its complications!!

Sorry about your dad. Strong reaction is what I seek from my photography!

Why... just because the subject matter is smoking?

I happen to think that all porn is not created equal.  There's fairly awful porn out there.  Then there are some that I wish I could view 8 days a week.  Your photos are bound to be worse than some, but better than others.

But if it means anything to you, I'm much rather look at porn that people smoking.  That's just me...

I've never understood the attraction of smoke in a photo, but it sometimes creates an interesting shot. Having said that I have zero interest in promoting smoking in any way and agree with the OP that smoking is far worse than porn.

Just my opinion, but actually I don't think the smoking photo really glamorizes smoking at all. The smoke obscures the model as the camera takes an unflattering angle to reveal her in "raw pleasure. It leaves me wanting to see the attractive model without the cigarette and the smoke. I'm curious as to what this photo was taken for...portfolio, commercial, children's magazine ; ) ?
I really think it is not so much the subject matter but how/why/where it revealed that determines it's judgement, and then again it is half up to the viewer anyhow, as not only your photo but your query has brought up here. Same with porn vs nudity vs erotic...whew, I feel a headache coming on...

If smoking's the worst thing that somebody's done, they have relatively little to worry about.

Rhetorical question: since when did our society begin to place health choices at the top of the morality scale?

(This post does not address question of porn the least little bit.)

Yeah--I guess health and morality ARE on different scales--to be measured and discussed using different parameters!!
Thanks Marko for chiming in!

interesting concept

its our inherent voyueristic tendancies, we all stop to see a car crash, but no one would want to be a victim of one, nor want to see any one they know in it

same is true for either porn or smoking

an individual may like to watch, or be fascinated by watching women in porn, fro really hardcore to softcore, but would not want to do it themselves, or see someone they knew

This was of deep concern in this series of photos. The model had given up smoking and was on her one month anniversery! She did not inhale ala Clinton. She actually quickly realized what a sickening addiction she once had as she begn to cough several times with the smoke JUST in her mouth.
