from AP  "A major Brazilian fashion event has moved to bar models under the age of 16, part of a national effort to increase awareness about eating disorders following the death of a 21-year-old model from anorexia last month.
Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston, 21, died from a generalized infection caused by anorexia last month. She weighed only 88 pounds."

She is 21 not sure why they made a age cut off at 16 because of her death at 21.
Two of Brazil's top models, Camila Finn and Bruna Sotilli, are both aged 15.

For those not familiar with modeling in Brazil, some of the top models
in the world (Giselle Bunchen, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio) are
from Brazil. Adriana was discovered at age 13 while shopping with her mom, and Giselle and Alessandra were both discovered by the same scout at age
14.

They make $10,000 per hour for modeling and $150,000 to walk the runway for Victoria Secret.

Almost the same thing happened after the disaster heroinchic.
Then life went back to the insanity that is the business.
Funny those who complained the most where the ones who did it most before and after.
I bet it is similar here.
Things change but one thing stays the same.  People want attention.

Good. You shouldn't have a full time job at 13, not even a part time one really. You should at least get a chance to be a child, child actors have it much better than child models. As actors they are treated and presented as children. Child models are treated and presented as adult women.

I dont see the connection from how a 21 year old dies from eating disorders
so they ban all the up and coming models under 16 from the runway shows?

Some here have argued about a 13 year old having a job.
They start training at that age ( like having a ballet class)
I think at age 16 Adriana Lima was moved from her little town in Brasil
to New York.

Why?  So she can make $10,000 per hour modeling, save up a few million dollars
and be set by the age of 28 for life.
