There is a belief amongst certian aboriginal poeples in the third world that in having ones photograph taken - one loses their soul

If that were true- how many souls have  you taken in your time ?

I fall in "like" every shoot and a soul I share, not take.

The aboriginees knew no better than to shoot and eat a little meat
for survival.
The photographer; capture and release.

don't know about the aborigines but a similar belief exists among some of the Native Americans tribes in America. parts of my family, of the latter, and although i never lived on the reservation myself, will somewhat recognize that for the last 12+ yrs i've been working with a camera, yet have ever to have looked at any of my work.

figure 12+ yrs shooting full-time, that'd make, uhm,..., yeah, i guess a lot of "souls". hmm.

Hmmmm...
Hard to know because some of those that I shot over the years didn't have soul to begin with.

every photographer leaves a little of him/herself in every picture, ideally no more or less than the amount the photographer takes from anyone else.

Finally! An explanation as to why so many have poor webcam self portrait photos in their profiles.

When a model flakes on me...

I feel like I lose a piece of my soul ...

I have been a soul collector for so long I lost count years ago! Is collecting souls anything like the Karma Credit Club?

Does Ebay have a ban on the sell of celebrity souls on Ebay? I think I just figured out a way to strike it rich. Running a special today of Paul McCartneys (quick before Heather sucks out the rest of it in court) and Madonnas (made only of the finest balsa wood, red ribbons, and toxic paint chips-lol!

Every soul can only be stolen once,
So you would need to be the first photographer to capture a persons likeness.
That being the case....
I would suspect that every one has their sould stolen by thier proud parents within a day of being born.

Just think about all the newborns being photographed.  Little bastards get their souls sucked out before they even know they have one.  Maybe that's why they scream so much and stink so bad.

It is the essence of illusion that I capture and decline to release, saving the world around us from the misguided tours of pretence.

Does video count? if so it would be in the thousands. 23 years of news and lots of interviews, sports and crowdshots.

Now how do I harness that to live forever  LOL

I must have getting on for a million... when shooting at big music festivals I nearly always do a few crowd shots, getting in most of the 50,000 people watching the main stage.

I'm thinking that those video  cameras in the nurseries of hospitals could be the real soul stealers

Hmmm.... this theory would explain politicians.

So photographers steal souls, and models steal hearts.  It's a match made in heaven.
