I think that your own images much exceed the examples that you have linked.

There are lots of different programs you can colour your photos with. Most popular is, of course, Photoshop. Gradient map adjustment layer, Hue / Saturation adjustment layer, Curves layer, Colour Balance, Photo Filter, Color Lookup, are just a few ways to go about it. There are many Photoshop plugins that will allow you to colour your photos with the use of presets as well. And of course, you can use Lightroom as well for quick presets. For even more control over colour, there are also LUT programs that will allow you to customise and modify colours to a great extent.

Learn to see what you are looking at - which colors differ from their natural equivalents. This will tell you what you need to change. Obviously the blond hair is moved to red, the neutrals are colorized too and the red jacket contains yellow. The contrast is also increased. By reverse engineering the image like that you will know what to do.

I think you're pretty much already doing it.  Looks like theirs maybe has grain in it.

thank you for this, very helpful. it's hard for me to tell what color was added, reduced just by looking. How do you zero out the original picture

By creating a custom LUT to correct the unnatural colors.
