Hello,

Can someone show me how to remove the lights behind this man's head?

I have a hard time removing the lights without also removing his hair.  Thanks for your help.

You can try using background eraser tool with discontiguous under limits and adjust tolerance. Always work on duplicate layer. also to bring back his hair, you may mask it out using a thin brush strokes. It should work.

Use Clone Stamp tool (CST) as your main technique both for the light and for the hair. Because the light behind the head is too big, after you are done with CST, you will have discolouration - you can fix them with a simple brush, 100% opacity, 10% flow, soft brush. Just pick spots and then brush them over. For the hair - do the same, Use CST to fix the yellow lights, left uneven after removing the hair

Just as with everything, there are numerous ways to reach your desired results. In this example a combination of masking (used fine brush to paint in finer hair details) and a couple color adjustment layers to fix background color contamination in hair.

I tried different tools (and combinations) and they seem to do the job.  Thank you!  BTW, I didn't know about the background eraser tool.  Now I do... smile.  In the end, I decided to keep the light on the background as it seems to enhance the romance mood and just removed the big white dot next to his ear.  Anyway, thanks, all. smile
