Vintage hair
I do all hair and makeup myself right now. (I only get TFP shoots)
Any tips for doing vintage hair? Right now I do wet sets (with rollers) but it takes SO long. 2 hours to roll cause my motor skills suck 1 hour under the dryer 1 hour to brush out and style - for the vintage train travel shoot (see port for pics )Mar 16 17 02:24 am Link I have found some really great tips in the book Vintage Hairstyling by Lauren Rennells:

When I do pinup hair, I use multiple techniques, depending on the style and persons hair. I really like hot rollers. If your hair is super thick, you might need 2 sets. I also sometimes do a pin curl set--it feels really authentic. This tool makes pin curling much easier: https://www.amazon.com/HRST-Books-LLC-S … 1VAXV3772K Hairnets, snoods, and hair rolls can also help give a style a really polished retro look. Good luck! I curl a 2-3 in section of hair, then wrap it around my finger and pin curl it while it's still hot (i like to use the metal allegator clips, rather than bobby pins, it's quicker). It usually only takes 10-15 mins to cool, and I just do the make-up while the curls set. This gives a nice tight curl that responds well to a brush-out. Then finish everything else. After you take the pin curls out make your ways and clip them. Then spray like crazy! Have fun! Jan 05 18 05:15 am Link |
