Editing & Retouching Software to Limit the Cost
Hello! I am new here. Can any one suggest a software for editing and retouching which is easy for use? For a newcomer, it should be easy to use and should not be high cost. Regards, MK Jul 28 16 03:13 am Link I don't know what the Lightroom/Photoshop combo costs in India but here it's around £8 a month which is pretty cheap for what you get IMO. I wouldn't say it's easy to learn though UNLESS you can find someone experienced in retouching to spend a day with you to show you and practice essential techniques. That makes a big difference to trying to figure them out under your own steam. Learn once and learn properly I say - but it depends what you're looking to achieve with your retouching and how regularly you anticipate doing it. Jul 28 16 07:47 am Link There is a program called "Portrait Professional" that can be used by models fairly easy. You just follow the prompts to place markers around the face, eyes, lips, and hairline etc... and then you can adjust about 50 different kinds of effects in real time to see how you like them applied to your image. Its not as powerful as Photoshop... but you can produce some acceptable results with it... especially if you are conservative with applying the effects. I spent 4 years of arduous weekly training learning Photoshop. My guess is that you could get started with Portrait Professional and get some nice progress in 2-3 hours by studying and experimenting. In PP it matters a lot what your judgement is...and what YOU think looks nice. But since you are the model...you are the best one to judge what results you are getting for yourself. There is a free download for you to try out the software for free for a period of time... http://www.portraitprofessional.com There are many different kinds of sales and discounts offered for this software ranging from 30-80USD. There is a 50% discount being offered this week for example. Go to the site and see what the software looks like and how it operates...see if you think it might work for you. Try out the demo version for a real test. I use it in addition to my Lightroom and Photoshop tools... I like it because you can make many adjustments interactively and see how they look instantly. Some individuals seem to prefer only Photoshop and nothing else... but in your case you can try out each on your computer free for a month...and you can make your own evaluation. I use Photoshop professionally because you can do almost anything you can visually think of. It is being offered these days for $10 a month from Adobe... and thats a great price...but like the above poster said... it takes a bit of effort and guidance to get comfortable with it. You can also get a free trial download of Photoshop to take a look at it too. www.adobe.com The Best of Luck!! Jul 28 16 09:34 am Link don't forget about a program called Gimp, it is free and a good way to get your feet wet in editing software. there are plenty of YouTube videos to help get you started. Jul 28 16 09:42 am Link I use Photoshop CS6. It's pretty good for what I need, as I'm not good with editing either (I do my own edits sometimes). Lightroom and Photoshop are apparently the standard, but you can get Photoshop CS2 for free from Adobe, which can help you get started. It isn't as comprehensive at CS6 but it'll get the job done. As for free software, you can always try out GIMP, which is a free editor. Some people tell me GIMP rivals Photoshop, but I don't like it. That said, I started editing with GIMP before I purchased Photoshop Aug 11 16 12:06 pm Link MadhuK wrote: Unfortunately, retouching is inherently hard - and most of the tutorials are for Photoshop. Gimp, Krita and maybe Fotoxx are reasonable alternatives. Aug 11 16 12:27 pm Link KristinaQuinn wrote: Gimp has a horrible early learning curve.
