A good first step would probably be to show some work that wasn't wedding based. I read somewhere that you were a boudoir specialist, perhaps you could show some of that work.

what is the market for other make-up work in lodi? does it exist? can you create it if it does not? who will be the target market? where is the most money in the market? those are the questions that have to be answered.

if you are already successful in one market, can you leverage that to a different audience or can you expand it? there is no simple answer. if there were, anyone could do it. finding the solution that works for you is the key.

it also can take time to build the business and reputation. doing that well is a key factor.

Jennifer your BIO states you've been a professional makeup artist for over 15 years...  and mention that you're professional background also includes working with Estee Lauder, Chanel, Origins, Clinique, Benefit and Dior.

I assume then you're referring to counter work, correct?  While this offers the benefits of sick leave, paid time off, vacation etc it does in fact require weekend work typically every weekend... I know this all too well since I tried to solicit part-time counter work with Sephora and MAC... Both demanded working on weekends which would have meant giving up lucrative weddings which nearly always are on Saturdays...

Best Advice? License as an esthetician... they actually do typically work a standard five day week normal business hours... The requirements in CA are 600 hours...

Another option might be SAG-AFTRA membership...  or I.A.T.S.E. (International Alliance of the Theatrical Stage Employees) I believe Local 706 is germane for LA (think film, television, live network shows, theatrical productions here)

Here in Washington DC it's Local 798  btw, if you are thinking of working the DC market might be wise to become highly competent in airbrush technique... enough said...

Hope this helps...
