Does anyone know of any good Photoshop Tuts for achieving these ball joints like you would see on a doll's elbows, wrists, knees, etc?  I've found tons of Tuts on the Cyborg look, but I want more of the plastic doll look.  Michael Oswald's work is some of the greatest photo manipulation out there but I'm not looking to do a high end manipulation.  Just something similar for a model I'm working with.  Hopefully the link below works.  Thanks in advance

I agree, Photoshop can do just about anything, including "painting". I always have said, "if you can think it, you can do it, in Photoshop".

Step 1 before you even think about ball joints is can you paint the existing photo into a sufficiently plastic look?

If yes, then I think step 2 would be to photograph some ball joints in similar lighting and combine it all in Photoshop.

If you go the photography route there seem to be a lot of resources for BJD fans (ball-jointed dolls)

When I do that sort of thing I generally use 3D CG

I've been following Micheal's work since 2011 and he has serious painting skills. He said he works with photoshop only, so no 3D work needed. One of the most important thing that you need at least a wacom tabet and painting skills. He is one of the best IMO.

Right. So the first question is can the OP achieve step 1?

I'm not real sure, but you might be able to do something like this with Blender.

The OP can achieve anything with the right skills. He can copy MichaelO with painting skills + graphics tablet!
