New model trying to get somewhere
Hi everyone. I'm trying to get back into the business but I could use any help offered. I'm not sure how to book paid gigs or do things that are going to help me advance. Would appreciate an feedback. Thanks loves Feb 06 16 12:21 am Link Welcome to the Mayhem, best of luck. Do a search in your area for photographers and message them about your availability, post a casting notice for your area stating that you are available for paid shoots. See if there are any group shoot in your area and work that angle, that should get you known in your area and get you some contacts. Feb 06 16 01:14 am Link I read your bio and looked at your portfolio...you're 5;6" but want to do fashion, editorial, runway, say yes to nudes but say you won't do "full on nudes". All caps segments of the bio. And an all caps escort and "sleazy" location paragraph. If I were hiring a model, I'd not want to see that, and I would want to see an established portfolio beyond snapshots. Maybe work on those things and it will be more inviting to approach you, my 2 cents. I sought out a sleazy motel for this NSFW shoot, btw, and the model is still ok. http://farrellgallery.com/roadside-motel-series-part-1/ Feb 06 16 01:22 am Link I will be in your area in a week but your profile tells me that I shouldn't work with you. Feb 06 16 05:00 am Link I would not hire you . . . your port is not strong enough to carry. Feb 09 16 07:46 am Link Jerry Nemeth wrote: haha I got the same vibe. Feb 09 16 08:55 am Link As a photographer who pays traveling alt models, she has the look that I would easily pay for. One look at that profile easily leads me into another direction, like a most likely block list candidate. I would start from scratch with some research. Maybe try to talk to a traveling alt model to get some pointers from her. Feb 09 16 09:18 am Link Hello and Welcome Back to MM. Feb 10 16 12:55 am Link Welcome to the Mayhem. Feb 10 16 06:00 pm Link You have the look and talent but not the portfolio. I would focus on getting a few killer shots. Feb 10 16 06:21 pm Link Generally, I agree with most of the prior posts. We photographers can be selective about who we hire/work with thus, if the "About Me" sounds demanding or arrogant, we'll probably take a pass on that. I highly recommend that you remove your requirement for a chaperon. Many of us have had a myriad of bad experiences with chaperons (theft, jealousy, bad effect on the model, anon, anon anon). The responsibility is on you to do the necessary research so that you can trust the person you will work with. Don't be lazy, check references, look at the photographers portfolio and stay in touch with a "friend" when you arrive at the shoot". Also, if you are unsure about somebody, meet them first and check their vibe. Since I started working with models in the 1980's, I have had bad experiences with about 75% of the shoots that included a chaperon. That is probably not uncommon so IMHO, drop that requirement entirely. Feb 10 16 07:15 pm Link |
