Is there some trick to this?
I see this "perfect hair" look in a lot of shampoo magazine ads and in head shots on MM. What is the post-processing secret to this? Can anyone point me to a relevant tutorial or give me some idea how to approach this look? http://fashioniy.com/wp-content/uploads … 2015-6.jpg http://www.tomorrowoman.com/wp-content/ … 084939.jpg https://brucellanewman.files.wordpress. … 427160.jpg Thanks! Jan 28 16 01:41 am Link It has to have a proper model that has a face / body that's good for a beauty campaign or editorial, has to be shot well, and everything else just consists of creating a new layer and cloning the hair in darken mode to take out the strays, puppet warping / warping the shape of the hair and strands, and occasionally sampling sections onto others and blending it so it's seamless, then finally creating highlights and shadows with natural transitions with d&b. It takes the longest time ever, but it's worth the effort. Natalia Taffarel's hair tutorial you can google and any FStoppers hair tutorial will tell you exactly that. Thas' it :3 Jan 28 16 02:21 am Link Yes, as Kami said how it is done. I asked this same question few years ago. A member told me exactly what Kami just said. I tried it and it did work, And Kami is absolutely right on another aspect of it. It takes HELL A LOT of time if you want it to be the quality of your samples. Jan 28 16 02:53 am Link Have a look at this tutorial. Viktor is the best and he teaches almost every category of retouching. Scroll down and take a look at the image examples. https://www.karltaylorphotography.com/a … aphers.htm Jan 28 16 05:06 am Link it's a really complicated and time-consuming issue. very few retouchers do this and you can hardly find any tutorials on it. but here're some useful links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOyvbMs-Njw https://vimeo.com/85681698 Jan 28 16 07:07 am Link ivancoart wrote: That is simply amazing. I never imagined it would be that work intense. My hat's off to the retouchers who do this on a daily basis. Jan 28 16 07:22 am Link Jan 28 16 07:36 am Link You also need a top hair stylist to prepare the hair for this type of shoot... A good hair stylist will save a lot of money because retouching will take less time. Jan 28 16 01:32 pm Link ivancoart wrote: Wow, this was definitely the most helpful response. That second video was exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you. Jan 28 16 07:47 pm Link I am a retoucher for a major advertising company and we do these types of images. It's all done in Photoshop. Dozens of hair shots can be taken and then composed and refined in Photoshop. Beleive me it's rare that you can get a perfectly hair styled shoot it's all done in post. with LOTS of hrs spent, I mean 40 plus hrs. Feb 07 16 04:34 pm Link |
