Not that grey muslin backdrops arent the cats meow, but I think they have been used before...  Any idea on neat, and inexpensive background materials that might give a fresh and edgy look?

Thanks a google,
Jeff

Go to home depot and buy a few 8x4 panels of false brick work, wood paneling. You can just lean them against a wall ,just one for close up or two side by side for full figure. You can also lay them on the floor to look like brick floor or wood flooring.Infact you can lean the brick panel against the wall and lay the wood paneling down on floor against it for effect. They can be bulking to move around but they last forever and can be stored stand up right against the wall behind your backdrop.
Also,go to art supply store and buy foram board that is colored like marble or stone work.comes in 4x4 sheets.

Raw, unbleached canvas dropcloths, long, plain curtains (so they look like stage curtains) all can be cool.

Even better if you can get weathered ones with a little rust and a few nail holes.

If you're artistic at all, just by a roll of plain black background paper, (I buy the 9' wide rolls) for $20+ and design your own back drop. You can use anything from paints, to pastels, to charcoal.
