Thinking below the waist-wanted sexy posts
Wow, the overwhelming impression I get from browsing through the various photographer and model photos is holy $#@*& are people ever horny. Not to soundlike a bit of a prude, but too many photographers are thinking with their pants instead of creating good images. Too many "vulgar" images that are just too obvious. Lets see some sexy stuff, but sexy is all about imagination, not "in your face". Maybe someone could post some sexy images, but classy ones? Dec 01 06 10:20 am Link So now nudes have to be sexy and classy? When did that memo come out? And if an image is ... In your face.... That means that the photographer was horny? Alright I cannot speak for everyone but I have got to say that there are a lot of other reasons for in your face sexual images than just being horny. Some times the photographer wants to shock, or create some controversy, other times the work is symbolic.... As I have done and will do again... There are hundreds of reasons and motovations for shooting nudes they don't need to be classy or sexy or anything... Nudes are who we are, why pidgin hole it into your personal preference? I don't believe by looking at your port that you're just a horny photographer wanting girls to get naked. Does that make them right? no it just makes it their opinion. They aren't the end all and be all of what is considered "classy" or "horrible" and neither are you. Dec 01 06 10:42 am Link Daniela V wrote: I heart you more. Dec 01 06 10:42 am Link I can judge if I want to, I'm human and I have an opinion. I'm also pissed off that there are some many guys who call themselves photographers out there who really only are trying to get naked shots of women. It makes it hard to do a "legitimate" nude. Also frankly, shots that try to shock or whatever, yea great, but creating something beautiful is infinitely harder. Dec 01 06 10:50 am Link The word "classy" makes me shudder. And no, nudes don't have to be sexy at all. I rarely take any I think of that way. I can still judge it though. Dec 01 06 11:00 am Link Oh no I wasn't excusing my work... I don't think there are many who would consider my work porn.... However, as much as some do not like nasty or disgusting nudes, they have their place and as long as we are a free market country people are going to shoot images that are commercially viable. This year Americans spent nearly 14 billion dollars on adult oriented material. Where there is a demand, there will always be those who will be there to provide. We are sexual creatures. There is nothing wrong with a focus on that side of our nature.... Every one of is is a product of that nature. Maybe one day we will all grow up and understand that we don't have to feel bad about liking sexual imagery. Let's not let this site become a burden to creativity because our shame or puritanical self illusions get in the way of our appreciation for what we are. Dec 01 06 11:01 am Link ravens laughter wrote: don't get me wrong, I like sexual images but my opinion as I stated in the at the start of his thread is that alot of photographers on this site don't have the talents/skill/imagination to produce work that is both sexual and beautiful. I know, I know, who am I to judge, but judgeng I am in the hope that people might think a little more about what makes a shot sexy. Dec 01 06 11:18 am Link Ransom J wrote: i can be my own judge as to whether an image is "perverted" or not. It's my mind, as far as anyone else is concerned, they have the right to think whatever they want about any image. Just because I think it's perverted doesn't mean that it is. It's called an opinion, as you are voicing yours right now as well Dec 01 06 11:29 am Link Dec 01 06 11:29 am Link Griffithimage wrote: Firstly I have to completely disagree that creating something disturbing is easier than creating something beautiful. The human form on its face is attractive and beautiful. A monkey with a tripod could take beautiful pictures of maddie all day long. It is not easy going beyond the surface to cause the viewer to feel something deeper than an athstetic appreciation. To suggest anything to the contrary denies an entire history of art. What may be "vulgar" to you might be classy and artistic to others including the creator. But thanks for the advice on what photographers should be shooting.
