I have a model that wants to be splattered in fake blood.

It's not normally what I would shoot, but it's a personal friend, and it's a paid shoot.

She wants it to look real...

Where can I get some fake blood that looks real?

MAKE IT YOURSELF!!!

(This is what I use):
1 Liter Corn Syrup

5 Liters Water

2 or 3 Tablespoons Red Food Coloring
1/2 Teaspoon Green Food Coloring (optional)
A slosh of milk
Get a large pail to mix this all together. If you do not like the consistancy you can either thin it with more water, or thicken it with sugar or corn syrup. The exact amount of food coloring you require will depend on the brand you buy, so you may need to play around with the measurements. If you make it too dark, just add more water again. Adding some milk will reduce the translucent of the mixture (real blood isn't see-thru, but if you want clear blood, leave the milk out of the recipe). Don't add too much milk or the blood will look pink!

The final product should splash like water, but be slightly shinier, and not soak into cloth quite the same way water does, leaving more of it on the outside of clothes so they look suitably bloodied. NOTE: This will stain clothing, so don't get it on anything important.

you can even add a little flour for some opacity and thickness.

How about the skin? Can we expect no other shoots for a few days until the skin clears up from blood stains?

There are also detergent based fake blood products and recipes as well. It will wash out rather easily and isnt as sticky as the syrup based products. Do some research. Google and Yahoo are your friends.

If you are working in B&W, a quick, cheap, & easy solution would be to use chocolate syrup.  That's what Hitchcock used in Psycho.

Odin's recipe is the same I've always used, and yeah, flour can be added for thickness(finely sifted).

It will temporarily stain skin, but nothing a good shower can't take care of.

Just make sure she brings an escort, point him at her, stand behind him, and cut his throat.
Blood'll look real and her look of terror will be genuine.
And no one will miss an escort.
Just make sure you don't touch the MODEL or stories about us photographers being dangerous psychos will abound.
