Okay.  I made the mistake of saying that the no escort policy of some photographers seems perverted.  But note the operative word seems...not IS perverted.

I've been fortunate enough to not have annoying, disruptive, threatening, or thieving escorts, which suprisingly can't be said for many others.  To those who have had these horrible escort experiences, you have my sympathies.

More, I didn't intend to insult or attack the good people here.  After all, I'm a photographer too, so to suggest that you guys are pervs means that I'm attacking myself.  So to set the record straight, you guys aren't pervs.  And yes, down with bad escorts.

POICE!

This is why The Thread lives. To prevent new threads like this one from spawning. How long before this is locked, I wonder...

Hey  thanks,    you made some good points  and you got some good points thrown at you.

It is  really more an emphasis on the concept that the public perception of the professional photographer should not be continually reinforced to be  some scum of the earth ner'  do well.

You arent.

I'm not.

If  the reasoning for "Needing" an escort is for security,   then  perhaps the photographer may well be right   to  suggest they come back later when they feel more comfortable.

Obviously   SOME  photographers  have had  bad escort experiences.

Lots of photographers  have had no trouble and dont' think it is ever a problem.

So anyway.....   you did great.   you stated an opinion and you had some extensive discussion about it and now  you still get to make up your own mind.

You are welcome in THE THREAD  anytime.   YOu happened in at a pretty tense moment  and there have been some difficulties with hurt feelings on all sides.

No problem.

Keep up your good work shooting your art.

ciao.

I've never heard of bad escorts outside of that one thread.  I've heard of a few issues, but nothing drastic.

I've seen the light and view the issue in a much more nuanced fashion due, in no small part, to the contributors who gave me a good spanking.  It's a live and learn kind of 'splinter thread,' so I think it's valid.

I forgot... how long have you been a photographer?

Come to one of my networking events and sit around with a few of the more experienced photographers... you'll hear some doozies.
