Your best shot with a completely plain background.
ummmm..... ok I usually shoot on location, whether indoors or outdoors and I usually rely on backgrounds and props etc. to help build the image I'm always looking to improve my lighting and composition etc. so I'm going to try and set up some shoots using nothing but completely plain backgrounds and models..... no props (except clothes) and no patterns, just a plain background cloth/paper so...... I'm after some inspiration (yes inspiration and not stealing other peoples shots) so post your best shot with a plain background here.............. thanks Jon www.jonroberts.co.uk Nov 21 06 05:36 pm Link Most of my shots are on plain backgrounds.. I like them.. They're simple.. They keep the focus where I want them.. I don't know if it's my best but this is the first one anyone ever offered to pay me for a print of: Some others I like: http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/68541026 http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/61815457 http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/68810332 (Yes, that's a plain, mono background) http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/64277289 http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/65360071 http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/64869225 http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/66727874 (18+) http://www.pbase.com/wgrowland/image/67554077 Nov 21 06 05:43 pm Link This one is probably my most well known plain background shot.In the actual shot she is almost all the way over to the right but you can`t tell because of the white forum background.I don`t have many because I try not to use plain backgrounds anymore. Nov 21 06 05:46 pm Link The background is a canvas painters dropcloth bought from home depot (approx 12' x 15' folded in half lengthwise (6' x 15') The background here is my living room wall. Nov 21 06 05:50 pm Link Virtually all of mine are - take the one on the left, as an example.... Nov 21 06 05:52 pm Link Soma Stardust MM # 201254 Nov 21 06 05:54 pm Link Don't have a best, but this is the newest one in my port Nov 21 06 05:54 pm Link Nov 21 06 05:54 pm Link Well, I do everything on location...from the shots I have up at the moment, here are 2 extrems For Starters, there is no reason to use Paper unless you are doing full body seamless look or if you want a specific color, there are always diferent color walls you can use as long as they are lit correctly...here is a white backgroung...and no, it was not the wall, the wall was coloted, so I used the blids from the dinning room (I had to shoot from the kitchen), I closed the blinds and lit it heavily with a strobe creating a good solid white background: Now, I bet you would have never figured where the black came from...and no it was not photoshop..it was not indoors and it was not paper...are you ready? I shot this on the park, in one of those roof things with no walls, I had the model in the middle of it...so the background was green bushes in daylight, I used 2 strobes to light up the model (Key light and hair light...) shot fast shuttes and small aperture and WHHHHALAAAA!: and to close...the background was plain as you can't see it (park again) but you did not say anything about the foreground...so there you go! I hope you enjoy it as I did enjoy the shooting..and hope you find some kind of inspiration!...and if you can make it to Houston by the 16th, don't miss out my Lighting class http://www.xposurephoto.com/class.htm XP Nov 21 06 05:57 pm Link Here's mine. I try to keep the background as plain as possible in all my shoots. Hope the attachment works. It's 18+ https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=1730110 Nov 21 06 06:08 pm Link It's on a plain white background, but the creases in it created shadows. Oh well. Voila. And probably not my BEST shot on a plain background, but it's festive. Tis the season and tra la la la, right? Nov 21 06 06:19 pm Link Here's a few of mine: A portrait: My first "real" fashion session: A product shot I took for a friend for selling on Ebay (he never used it): And of course a nude: http://www.visi.com/~loki/figure-cl50a_600.jpg -P- Nov 21 06 06:20 pm Link Nov 21 06 07:03 pm Link I LOVE plain backgrounds -- it lets the personality of your subject come through. Jon Roberts wrote: Nov 21 06 07:30 pm Link I love clean backdrops. You either linger on the subject ..........or move on to something of more interest. I recall a thread comment about a face shot shot posted on MM. The viewer was so intent on studying the image, the smell of burning pizza brought him back to reality. Good imagery should do that. Nov 21 06 07:34 pm Link "I dont need to show you no stinkin badges!!" most of my shots are plain white background the other shots are plain black.. I shoot only for the model i am shooting!! Im not gonna glorify sum backdrop manufacturers work.. Im gonna put all my concentration on the model itself not the surroundings.. If i am outside of course i am gonna use what i have and make it look hot.. But inside i give it all to the Model (:-------- Hj Nov 21 06 07:49 pm Link edit: jpeg artifacts are just brutal on this one... i should replace it... Nov 21 06 07:52 pm Link Nov 21 06 07:58 pm Link I have an entire series that I did recently that I really enjoyed. We really experimented a lot with poses and things, which turned out well. https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=1655612 thats one of my faves, as is this one: https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=1655637 They're pretty much 18+ Nov 21 06 07:58 pm Link Not necessarily the best, but a recent one. Usually I'm not trying to "build" an image. I generally prefer plain backgrounds so that there isn't any competion with my subject. Nov 22 06 12:22 am Link Nov 22 06 12:25 am Link I almost never have a background of any type other than plain or a wall which I use as is; mostly I'll just shoot on either black or white swept seamless paper and concentrate on lighting, angle, framing, perspective, expression, texture, etc. I don't know that these represent examples of my best shots, but they are examples at any rate. My favourite shots ( in random order) Nov 24 06 09:35 am Link Not my best, but here it is a quick one. Nov 24 06 11:51 am Link Nov 25 06 08:52 am Link It's not my favorite but, as an earlier poster said, a sentimental choice because I was offered money for it (and a few others in the series). I like to shoot when the model is part of an environment. But you try to grow your art and get better. Nov 25 06 09:09 am Link Here is one!
