I just switched mine today.  It was after someone that I respect mentioned that I "never" change it.  I've used the same picture of the same model since I started on MM because it's one of my personal favorites.
How often do you change yours?
How important is it to make the change?

I think that I've just always liked the fact that if you were looking for me, I would be easier to recognize with the same Avatar.

Does it make more or less of a difference depending on your role model/photographer/MUA?

When I find a non-nude photo that I just can't live without looking at, that I think the photographer just totally nailed. No sense in putting something mediocre up.

I think it's a good idea to change it because this is what people see first. It's like wearing different clothing - essential for someone who likes modeling or taking pictures wink

Why do strippers own 50 outfits and do three wardrobe changes a night?  The patrons don't notice and don't care.  It's kinda like that.

changing it from time to time shows you're working and active.  I change mine whenever I find (or find again) something I like.

I change my avatar about once a month.  If I have a shoot and something pops then I'll put that up pretty quick.

Too lazy to change my avatar.

Like my current avatar too much.

Think it looks silly.

But everyone goes through that and I'm no one special.

My avatar is under house arrest. It can't leave the state of MM until after the holidays.

Thats a great point.  I am guilty of that too, seeing that someone has a new shot up so I go look at their port again.

Do you think it's as important for photographers as it is models to change it out?

Very rarely. Besides, I think in places like this, people get to kinda "know" you by your avatar. Even truer for photographers than models, since you might recognize the model in the picture.

I don't always change my avatar when I put up new photos, but often I will as a way to let others know that I have new shots up.   When viewing others' forum posts, if I notice that their avatar's changed, this will usually prompt me to visit their port. I love looking at others photos as so much inspires me.

While I don't notice strippers at all any more I hate seeing the same Avatar day after day. Chang the avatar and get me to look at your work again. That's how it goes with me.
