How do you prefer your model? Waxed or natural?

For my art nudes my preference is smooth although I have worked with a couple who are natural and have plans to work with them again and a couple others for the first time because, well, they`re just so special imo that I was more than happy to forego my preference.

My reason has nothing to do with anything sexual or any fetish.

My belief apposed the thought that many artists have that hair covering the pubic area of females keeps things modest and keeps the eye from focusing on that spot.

*My* eyes tend to go toward something that stands out and to me a spot of hair almost dead center on a nude body that is about 90-95 percent hairless otherwise only begs for the eye to look toward it. Think of an aerial view of a desert, smack dab in the center of your field of view is a forest,,,,tell me, where is your eye gonna go?

I tend to prefer them happy with themselves. The rest works itself out as a result.

I have to say I agree, which is why I always let the models know it is a preference, never a demand.

I prefer pubic hair. Grromed, but full.

Also airpit hair.

I have a great interest in European work, and that is the common style for their models.

I would be interested in that as well. In some European countries the women that are hairy sometimes even decorate/braid/bead theirs as I am sure you may know.

I have learned not to "Ugh" about it as I used to. On some ladies the hairy look just seems to work.

Understood, but this is about preference, and I prefer NO hair. Nice, squeaky clean.

Nope 18, and in some states 21. I don't think it looks that way.

Funnily enough, German guys wax/shave EVERYTHING. Arms, legs, pubic area, er..back, chest. Seriously.

Armpit hair on a girl makes me want to vomit.  Literally, it starts to come up when I see it.  A "LITTLE" pubic hair is ok at the top, but other than that, I can't stand it.

What's funny is I lived in Europe and "knew" a pretty large number of girls while there.  All of them were completely shaved.  I asked most of them about it and they were appalled that I would think that they wouldn't.  According to them, everyone they knew did, except for the "gypsies".  LOL!  And I spent most of my time in Central Europe!

Why was this in the pit?

It's redundant, but not mean or even off topic for a site that encompasses nude and seminude modeling.  So into general.

That's a misleading thread title you've got there.

You can't be clean and hairy at the same time?  Why is it just one or the other?

I don't know where people get the idea that most Europeans are hairy. That was true once upon a time. That is not true anymore.

I've been spending more time on this continent over the past 5 years than the States, and the last 3 in eastern Europe mostly. While a lot of women let themselves go in the cold winter (when you're not going to wear anything revealing in public anyhow), in the summer, everything's shaved/waxed, just like at home.

If it's up to me, my preference is for the natural look -

However, as we all know, it's not up to the tog (most of the time) so I accept the model for who they are and what they have - or not.

On a semi related note: I once had a model decide to shave, something she'd not ever done before, the night before the shoot. The results were very uncomfortable for her (razor burn, etc.) and very unattractive for the session. We had to postpone until she "grew back." So, I started asking prospective models whether he/she shaved or not prior to working together for the first time.

Now, I just ask the model to not alter regular groomiing practices before a session....

I liked shaved but I don't think I've ever asked a model to. It's like hair on the upper lip to me. It's natural but I don't want to see it.

Yep, my point exactly.  European women are MUCH more fashion conscious than women here, and by a large margin.  Granted it's also probably where you hang within each country.  In CZ if you are in Trebich, you'll probably find more girls natural (but still very trim) but in Prague?  Forget it, you'd have better luck finding a needle in a haystack than hair down there.  Kiev, was mostly the same, Budapest too, Vienna definitely.

They see it as being dirty.  Or gypsy like (like we think of hippies) and that is NOT a fashionable look for them!

I prefer natural in almost (See note 1 below.) all things.  It's more versatile.  Kinda hard to portray innocence or that goddess look with features like a shaved snatch, meandering wildlife tattoos, thong-shaped tan lines, inflate-a-boobs, life-raft lips, and a ton of scrap iron stuck through any number of man-made perforations.

Yeah, you're right.  It's rare that a model meets my requirements, but then I always thought of models as being uncommon by definition.  And the very limited number of models I have to choose from fits in well with the very limited time I have to shoot (practically none at the moment).

Note 1:  "Almost" means I prefer shaved legs.  Also, I have special exemption for bald or certain otherwise extreme models (who ARE allowed to bring their unicorn friends).
