Should designer ask photog for portrait/candid?
Getting ready to shoot my catalog with a great photog. Wondering how you would react if I asked about getting a shot, be it a portrait or candid, of myself for a "Meet The Designer"/bio page on my site. Pushing it? I don't want to come off as conceited. Nov 10 06 03:16 pm Link I don't think it's pushing it. It's great to put a shot of yourself up, makes people more likely to 'connect' with you on a more personal level. It never hurts to ask, and no, it doesn't sound conceited. You wouldn't be in the 'fashion' industry if you didn't like attention. If I'm there, and my equipment is there, and I'm set up to shoot people, it's really not a big deal. You could always ask. Asking certainly wouldn't offend me. Most photographers would feel honored to take a designer's portrait. It might cost a tiny bit more, if it wasn't agreed on previously, but I doubt it'd be unreasonably expensive.
