Food Styling tips needed
Doing an ad shoot for a startup company selling cookies, fudge, brownies, etc without aid and benefit of a food stylist. Any tips would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance! Doing without a stylist is difficult but not impossible. Without having more information makes it hard to give advice because food is a challenging subject and if done incorrectly will look both terrible and uneatable which defeats the purpose of the shoot. I can give you some basic thoughts whan I shoot food. One you will need to decide if you're going to focus solely on the food itself or use it as part of a "atmoshpere" shot. Using the food in relation to where or how it will be used on a lable or cover. I tend to direct my energies on the food itself. Some food can almost be treated as mini-landscape shots making the food look larger than life and extremely edible. Desserts are great for this type of shot. Or you can make the subject the main attraction..... Another way is to use it as the previously mentioned "atmoshpere" shot.... Hope that helps a bit......food is very interesting to shoot and there are lots of tricks and ways to make it look appealing.....although I prefer the real deal myself...
