Models constantly start threads like "Why can't I get paid work"? or "Why can't I be a model because the girl across the street is a model"? or "Why can't I get photographers to shoot with me just because I'm 4' 11" and weigh 240 lbs"?

It's not every girl's "right" to be a model. It takes the right genetic package. Just because your parents tell you that you're beautiful doesn't mean that you can make money as a model. Just because drunks at the local pub tell you that you are the most beautiful woman that God ever created doesn't make you a model.

I love to play basketball. I play 3 hrs a day, 4 days a week. I work really hard at it. I would love to play in the NBA. If I was drafted, I would work my tail off ALL DAY LONG to become worthy of the honor of playing professional basketball.

There is only one problem: I'm 42 yrs old and I'm 5' 10", and I'm overweight.

Does that mean that I should "cry foul" that life isn't fair?

Sure does..

Last I checked.. Crying foul is how most of the good changes came along..

In my experience, "complainers" are labeled as negative imfluences, and are ignored, or people find reasons to get rid of them.

Changes happen because the people in charge see the merit in the changes.

Not because of complaining.

Ok, I was generalizing to larger topics.. But to be specific..

If you're not standard model material and you want to get noticed..  From my uneducated perspective.. Staying silent won't do you any good..

You make a plan.  You make noise..  You find a way to make a name..  You get that name recognized..  You get people interested in that name..

I.E. You market yourself until you're a commodity worth noticing..

Squeaky wheel gets the greasin..

Squeaky mouse gets the trap.. *swack!*

People whine because it works.  No matter the complaint, no matter if it is reasonable or significant or trivial or silly, or even venal, self-centered and unreasonable, there are those who will come in and support the whiner.  They get what they want, so they keep doing it.

If you have a couple of bottles, everyone from California and Nevada can meet up and I'll bring the crackers, fruit and cheese.

Bitching is fun. In these parts, it's the national sport, in fact.

Then again, I could whine about the double post.  Or perhaps I should just lay off the Merlot?

Finally. It's about time. There is far too little whining. Oh sure there are plenty of complaints and insults, but no real whining. Thanks!
