You're gonna get tons of answers, but I suspect the stereotype of Glamour modeling is showing lots of sex appeal.  Think Maxim and FHM.

or my weak attempts...

Glamour is focusing on the breasts while fashion is focusing on the bra... does that help?

This being the Internet, you should assume that glamour = nude until proven otherwise.

Every commercial shoot I have done that requested "Glamour Models" resulted in models in skimpy lingerie.

So you'd do well to think FHM MAXIM etc.

Some people also qualify Palyboy style nudes as glamour so make sure you understand THEIR interpretation before making a descision!

I agree with you, there are probably 6000 definitions of Glamour.  I think TX put it suscintly.

But, this has to be a glamour photo.  Where was that shot?  Great set!!

Funny, as a designer, the word "glamour" means something so different...

Here I am, trying to shoot a catalog emphasizing sophistication, recruiting glamour models.  It took me a few days to catch on that it was my misinterpretation...

Okay, let me dig out my photography books here...

From a book I have titled, "Successful Glamor Photography" by John Kelly, which has lots of nude/semi nude/lingerie photos in it (very similar to what Digital CMH posted above), published in 1983 (pretty old book) the definition of "Glamour Photography" is photographing of a model usually female, nude, semi-nude, or lingerie in a way that is intended to be erotic. The art of creating a provocative, sexual image of the model.

It don't think it's been defined by the internet. Lol... wink

Haha, it is an inside joke.  That was shot in my studio.  She is standing on my jacuzzi.  That section of my studio is where the wet sets were.

That isn't fencing, that is doubled up lattice work that was built to look like a fence but obscure the view of the rest of the studio.  My cyclorama was about six feet from the jacuzzi, but you couldn't see it.  The carpenter built an interior/exterior.

Gee, thanks for ruining my inside joke by being serioius, smile

No, it hasn't.  But as practiced on the Internet, it means something very different from the classical definitions.

glamour photography actually started as an emphasis of the model over all other things. The face, body, shape, beauty etc are the point of the whole photograph. Things like what clothes they are wearing (or not wearing) comes secondary to displaying the natural beauty of the subject.
Now, FHM/MAXIM/Playboy have become the symbols of glamour modeling. But it pretty much encompasses any photo where the composition, lighting, makeup and wardrobe are all styled to make the model look her best.
