You have to use the ellipsis between "mod" and "doo," writing it as "mod...doo" because there is obviously something missing. Obviously, too, there is also a pause between "mod" and "doo" in the spoken form exactly because there is something missing. The quotation marks set it off in the dialogue.

BTW there is a British English comparative term in spoken form that comes from what is called estuary English [an accent spoken in the south of England along the course of the River Thames] and pronounced as "mod...dow" = model. One of the girls that does this herself is the not overly bright glamour model Jordan [Katie Price] which is where the inspiration for "mod...doo" comes from. I just consider that "mod...doo" is the same thing but with an American accent.
