So I was at this concert tonight and this "scout" pulled me aside & told me about this open call for one source talent tomorrow. He gave me a card that I have to present to get in. I asked him if it was just another web page scam site.. He said I wouldn't have to worry about anything like that.

So whats the word on one source talent? Is it worth checking out?

Thanks

Yep.
Same as any other 'scouting' company (ie:  E-models, Options Talent, WSN, etc).

The scheme that the 'scouting companies' use is that they will put your photos on a website for agencies, casting directors... etc. to view.  The webpage will not be much different than the webpage that's displayed on a website such as MM, however they will charge quite a bit more (most often around $1000.00 to set it up and $25/mo maintenance fees.

The 'scouting' companies use open calls and talent searches as a rouze to make it seem like it's more like an exclusive club, however in reality anyone that forks over the cash will be admitted.

Sounds like a scam to me, I just had something similar happen to me, a guy from impact210 came up to me and asked if i was an actress, told me to come to an open call with the card he gave me. They made themselves out as agents then told me they were just going to host a site for me. Dont waste your time or money.

These scout people just come out of the woodwork.
Just about every time Jess goes to the mall, those damn people give her cards or papers or something. (Not this particular one you are speaking of but JRP and so forth.)

She's so funny..she puts her hand up now and says..."No thanks. I'm already a REAL model"...LOL!

That girl is a hoot!

I have a friend who used to have a shoplifting problem.  Sometimes he'd have something new, and I'd ask him where he got it.  When he bought it he'd tell me, but if he stole it, he'd say, "Don't worry about it."

Just saying...

(And, Peggy, you done good with that one. smile)

Ooooh, I've read about onsesource on a few modeling scam sites (I'm always checking out references and stuff there)
Yeah, they're bad people. They've been in on that scam for a long time.
Here is some info from one of the various scam report sites they're listed on:

easybackgroundcheck.com wrote:
Yes, the onesourcetalent.com website or company is by people whose background is leadership at franchises for the Wilhelmina Scouting Network scam, a web-based advertising service, the biggest modeling scam in American history, subject of constant complaints--over 2,000 at the Florida Attorney General's office alone--and about 900 at the Orlando Better Business Bureau.)

They not only scammed models into paying $1,000 to put their picture on the WSN website, they also scammed sales people whom they called "model scouts." They used to run 1,500 job ads on Monster.com before Monster pulled them all following a Newsweek investigation.

The scam was making job-seekers believe they would make all kinds of money if they only worked for 90 days, but they fired everyone before the 90 days were up, so they didn't get paid and/or didn't stick around to earn a salary. It was all on commissions. They talked about "career" and a ton of lies--the BBB asked them to substantiate their job ads--but they couldn't.

... Crazy, yes? Bad people everywhere.
When I want to check someone's credentials I search them on google. If you put the name of the person/company and the word scam in there and nothing pops up, and their references check out clean, then you should be ok.. but always do your homework!!!

I think I can now make the right decision. Ha. I'd love to call them out on it if it ever happens again. Thanks a lot.
