Mr Reality,

Generally classic rock refers to the late 60s and the 70s ....Though tattooes were not widely  popular amongst the masses during this  period - tattoos were sported by certain subcultures including some rock musicians inc Janis Joplin , Greg Allman , adn the Rolling Stones


(Gotta play something from  the Stones 1981 release Tattoo You during the fashion show )

Reportedly Hendrix had jsut finished mixing "Band of Gypsys " at the same studio Mountain was recording this song and the related album Mountain Climbing .. Hendrix gave a listen to Mountains work and liked it .....
