My Mom has "a bad feeling about this"
Could you please contact my agency and go through them? My mom is having "bad feelings" about this shoot and would feel better if my agent stepped in. If this is a problem, then you can count me out of the shoot. The contract stuff could be settled with them. The information about the agency I belong to was just added today to my profile. Please take a look and give them a call. It would be greatly appreciated. Does this happen to many photogs after talking to the model about the shoot and contracts? The "modeling agency" doesn't even have this models photos or info on there site. Oct 08 06 04:45 pm Link I dunno, but your MM page is all stretched out.............................................................................................................................. Oct 08 06 04:48 pm Link I know...I'm working on my info and stuff. Make things more clear so this doesn't happen again. I miss So Cal more and more everyday! Oct 08 06 04:52 pm Link You did not say how old the daughter was; if she is a minor, that would explain the mother's behavior. Her mother is having as much doubts as you are with her agency, which is apparent through your use of quotation marks, but that doubt is more soley based on the fact that her daughter has an agency now, and she would rather start utilizing their judgements and input for her daughter's career. Suppose she uses quotation marks in referencing you as a photographer. In any case, with or without an agency, the mother calls the shots, and the daughter is caught in between. If over 18, the mother is not the top of your worries, it is the daughters. Perhaps the daughter was just recently signed which would explain the drag of updating the model website. If you find working with the model and the mother's suggestion of going thourhg their agency to be too much trouble, by all means, don't do what you are not comfortable with. It sounds like we have a model with a mother who isn't familiar with the industry, and who is newly signed, so is in the middle of changing procedures. Not all that unsual. CK Photography wrote: Also not unusual. It takes time and, in some cases, money to add a model to an agency website. It's very common for models not to be added for months, or sometimes never. Oct 08 06 06:51 pm Link I actually MET with a model for a project and she never said she was with an agency...then emails me and says her mom thinks everyone should go through her agency....to which she JUST put their information on her page. It might be the same model lol Oct 08 06 07:02 pm Link hmm... Did you try to contact the mother and find out if she has any specific concerns? It sounds like an overprotective mother or something is off. Not sure what thought. Good luck. Sharon Oct 08 06 07:04 pm Link Cardillo Photography wrote: On her MM page? That's not allowed. Oct 08 06 07:42 pm Link man. if I refrained from everything that my momma "had a bad feeling about" I never would have led the fulfilling life that I have! she meant well but I make mistakes on my own, thank you very much. otherwise I would never learn Oct 08 06 07:46 pm Link Is it a legitimate agency. If so, you may just save yourself a lot of headache, by going through them. If you'd shot with her before the agency was involved, who knows the unprofessional nutso things you would have had to deal with from the model with attached mother... The agency will give her the drill. Working through agencies protects the photographer too... John Oct 08 06 07:53 pm Link Ched wrote: People interact all the time without shooting together. Even in this community, there are lots and lots of models that I interact with but will never shoot with. Oct 08 06 09:41 pm Link So, should the person be reported for using MM to advertise? Oct 08 06 09:43 pm Link CK Photography wrote: Nothing wrong with advertising, just only using it to advertise and nothing else, that's not right. It is the same reason we ban clothing companies and club promoters. If you're just here to sell your brand, you need to go (or change your attitude toward the site). Not "all communications". I'm pretty sure neither she nor her agency would have a problem with a "nice port" tag. Agencies do sometimes (note: sometimes) have a problem with models posting on forums, particularly if the posts are critical of the agency. But that still doesn't limit contact to "advertising" only. Oct 08 06 10:46 pm Link You may be a great photographer but you have four photos posted here and no links to a personal website. At the very least that would cause me to question your seriousness. Keep in mind I am not slamming you, I am just speaking as a parent. Oct 08 06 10:48 pm Link I don't have a problem working with an agency, if that's discussed in the beginning of trying to set something up. It wasn't, so that's what made me a little perturbed about the situation. I was willing to work on a contract and ok'd having an escort, but "mom was feeling bad about the situation". Anyways, long story short, she won't be doing it to anyone else on MM...She has been erased. Oct 08 06 10:53 pm Link There are a 1000 models...if any model or models mother ever said to me I'm having a bad feeling about something... It's easy..just move on and thank the model for her time. Oct 08 06 10:54 pm Link Oh, ok...Well, hopefully she won't do this to others. I heard it's happened to someone else on here. Ched, are you a Moderator? Oct 08 06 11:00 pm Link True Roy, but still wasn't handled the way it should have been. That should have came out from the first phone conversation about the agency. Not wait till we were setting up shoot ideas. Oct 08 06 11:03 pm Link CK Photography wrote: How many ways can a photographerf sayd "Bye bye"?
