Free spellcheck for those who need it most. These are the most common mistakes I see on here:

* It's not payed work. It's paid work.
* It's not experiance. It's experience.
* It's not refrances. It's references
* It's not profetional. It's professional
* It's not noodity. It's nudity. (Ok.. I made this one up.)

This has been a public service announcement from your county library.

I'm a profetional photographer with lots of experiance Laura.  I'd like to get some great shots consisting of glamorous noodity.  The compensation would be TFP, so it's not a payed gig.  Interested?

Let's not forget the proper use of guarantee as opposed to guaranty.

When you relate what someone else has said or written, that is a quotation, not a quote. A quote is the punctuation mark that identifys quoted sections of text.

Of course if MM had a Spell checker in it's system that would fix it all.

Yes, because spell checker knows "it's" means, "it is" and nothing else.

Not if I meant to say "The most common mistakes I currently see on here..." As if I have multiple browser windows open as I am typing up the thread.

But I see your point too. It could be said either way and be correct.

Well actually he IS grammatically correct. With  "it" referring to MM and the " 's " applying possession, "it's" is perfectly acceptable in the context it was used in.

I may be wrong, but..

It is not payed.... is the same thing as it's not payed

If you're saying that I should have left the apostrophe out, then that is incorrect.

I saw its tail, for example, would be correct.

I'm pretty sure I was correct the way I used it.

'"it's" is a contraction for '"it is" and is never used as possession.  "Its" without the apostrophe is used to designate possession.

Its going to rain.

I can't believe people are actually arguing over this nonsense. Seriously, being a writer/author I am extremely anal retentive about spelling and grammar. But it's really not that important unless you're being graded. If you don't like the way someone spells then just keep on going.

It's does mean "It is" but in this case (sorry, I have to correct here) the way he used it is absolutely correct. It would be the same thing as if he'd typed

"It is not noodity, it is nudity"

If we're being really anal.. this one is open to some debate, but "payed" is 90% archaic. The only sense that's still commonly accepted is as the past tense and past participle of pay "to let out (a line or cable) by slackening". So in the sense he meant it, I would consider it incorrect, but I admit not every dictionary will restrict it to that meaning.

Not sure what we are debating here.

I typed: "It's not payed work. It's paid work." Which is the same thing as "It is not payed work. It is paid work."

Again.. Not sure what the debate is.

NO!  We can't have spell checker on MM!  If we did, it'd make those of us who are dumb as rocks appear to be intelligent.  How then would models or photographers ever be able to form an opinion of someone they haven't met yet?

If some model tells me she doesn't due noodity unless their is a good reason for it and it's a pade gig and its artystic and everything, and only if it doesn't show her privites...well, then I have this "opinion" of her.  Spelling is just one tool I can use to see if she seems able to actually have a brain.  I prefer those, otherwise I spend most of the shoot saying, "No, your other right hand".

"It's their car" is correct because "It's their car" = "It is their car".

"The car needs its oil changed." That is how you use "its".
