Ok.. this is irritating.
* Models who say "No Nudes" * Models who insist on bringing an escort * Models who want paid only shoots * Etc Q- What do threads like this all have in common? A- Someone always responds with something along the lines of "Just move onto a model who better fits your needs" Or something like that. Well, it's a two way street. When I post a casting call, I make sure to detail what I expect, what you should expect, and so on. I do this specifically so as to not waste my time or yours on a project that you can't/won't do. If those terms are not agreeable to you then please just move on to the the next casting. Don't catch me on AIM or Yahoo and think that you're going to change the rules that I clearly detailed in the casting call. This particular instance just happened about 5 minutes ago when a model read my casting call and was interested, but she took issue with my No Chaperone policy. If you don't like it, then don't inquire. Simple as that. Further, when trying to get me to bend the rules and I say, "Sorry, those are the rules." Don't call me an asshole then block me. You're the one who answered the ad. You knew what the job entailed when you did so. That is all. Oct 01 06 03:10 am Link does this mean i cant bring the local rugby team??? The world revolves around me" attitude.I did a casting for girls interested in doing a pin-up shoot at the studio I work at and clearly stated that I needed girls with dark hair, i.e Brown,Black or Natural shade of reds, ( we had enough blondes for advertisement and needed something exotic.) I got so many blondes saying " sign me up" that I just wanted to punch them all in the face.I see this sort of thing in the casting forum allllll the time. Oct 01 06 03:26 am Link John Jebbia wrote: Only for pretty faces?? Oct 01 06 03:28 am Link Perspective models that don't "Follow Directions" are quickly dismissed! If they can't follow simple requests for casting calls, they sure as hell aren't going to be any easier to actually work with. Oct 01 06 03:29 am Link Hamza wrote: I've seen several actually that had specific instructions saying "Please don't respond to this thread, instead send me a message via email: [email protected]" Oct 01 06 03:31 am Link Zorina Seva wrote: I admit it. I'm shallow. Oct 01 06 04:56 am Link You are complaining about models responding to Casting Calls? I'm lucky if I get a response by email and I have yet to work with anyone who responded to a casting call. At least all the blondes and escorted models are bumping your threads. Oct 01 06 12:27 pm Link Anjel Britt wrote: John Jebbia wrote: I think I may be going to more rugby games now Oct 06 06 03:45 pm Link I have to agree with John. If someone goes through all the trouble to outline what they want and sets in place some rules as well, don't waste their time by trying to change their mind. You'll have to pretty freakin' unbelievable in order to get them to change. And mostly by what I mean by unbelievable is not so much looks, but NAME. For example, if you're Brooke Burke and tell John you want an escort, I think he might make exception. But if you're biggest claim is a Hooter's waitress and a model of the month on some low traffic website, you're likely still considered a nobody. Afterall, if you have "I always bring an escort" how would you feel if I e-mailed you and said I'd love to shoot with you but you CAN'T bring your escort? Oct 06 06 05:07 pm Link I can't imagine how irritating it must be to post specifics and then get to see your thread bumped by people saying, "DARN! I'm a size 6 and 5'4''" ...especially when you specifically are looking for someone between a size 0-2, and 5'9-5'11''... -D Oct 06 06 05:15 pm Link I agree, John. When you make a casting call and put in the specifics, no one has the right to call you an asshole or whatever cause you won't change the rules for her. It seems that these girls either don't fully read the castings or think they are just sooooo beautiful that you'll make an exception. And, even as a model, I HATE it when I see a casting that specifically states to reply at an email or PM, and then you see that looooooong list of "I'm interested" in the thread. To me it says "I'm interested, but I'm too lazy to follow the rules." I try very hard to read the entire casting and make sure that I fit the profile of what the call is looking for...and if not, I move on to the next one. So ladies (and male models), try very hard to read the whole casting and follow all directions. It will make you (and all of us) look better and you'll have a much better shot of getting the gig. Time for Batman to weigh in...putting out the bat signal. Oct 06 06 05:47 pm Link BlindMike wrote: I would definetly bring an escort to shoot with you. Oct 06 06 05:50 pm Link she sounds like an idiot wrapped in moron won't change your rules for her which ultimately means she's not worth changing the rules for and since that is so, I'm going to block you ha ha take that you asshole... haha like we care if we're blocked. get a life you worthless good for nothing no talent model. pshh dare I even consider calling you a "model" I meant to say Girl With Pics [GWP] blah Oct 06 06 05:55 pm Link Corey Wellman wrote: Well.... that is a lot of emotion .... Oct 06 06 06:02 pm Link one of the reasons I walked away from working with models for awhile was just such a thing-models answering a casting call, agreeing "Sounds great!" then changing their minds about how *They* want to do it once the shoot started. Had a call out for a pregnant model-have an idea that would totally rock but it does include tasteful nudity. Had three responders-two sent contact then never answered back. One came to the shoot then changed her mind so I ended up with some nice stuff-I'm thast good but not what I wanted. So I said "Phukit" and took a break. Oct 06 06 06:07 pm Link WhiteBears Visions wrote: Yeah, you show them! Those damn models... Oct 06 06 06:25 pm Link They do it because some of the guys who talk tough online turn into jello when in close proximity to any pretty girl. And then of course, there are the people who don't read very carefully.... Oct 06 06 06:33 pm Link Madcitychel wrote: Heh. Nahhh-hadda move anyway. Much better situation and filling several projects already. Lost Coast Photo wrote: Oh yeah-I'll admit that's me but I do the same around dogs, cats, turtles and children. Oct 06 06 07:19 pm Link It doesn't surprise me in the least that you would get that but I can imagine how frustrating that would be. I read a casting the other day that was for a blonde curvy model size 10-12 and 5'9 or above in height. I fit 2 of the requirements but not the third so I didn't apply. One of my female model friends fits two of the criteria but not all 3. She did apply and got the response I would have expected had I applied. A polite no, I need a model with all of the above but she was disappointed nevertheless. Her line of thinking was that you don't know if you don't try but I've found in my past experiences that the client lists what the client wants and that it's non-negiotable. She, along with the many others, will learn that in time but I guess some are slow learners. Oct 07 06 10:35 am Link It IS extremely irritating to see how few people seem to actually pay attention to castings. It does make sense that people hope that, well, maybe they'll like me so much that they'll be willing to overlook the fact that I'm too short/too heavy/the wrong colouring or ethnicity/wrong gender/unable to travel/not willing to do nudes/etc...but they won't, is the thing. If someone specifically states that they want a certain look or quality, and especially if they're paying, they shouldn't be expected to compromise, and the odds are extremely good that they won't. Not only will you be rejected, but then they'll remember you as The Model Who Didn't Read the Instructions and be much less likely to hire you for other projects later on. How can people not get that? At the same time, it cuts both ways. When the first thing I tell a new photographer approaching me is a) I won't do anything pornographic and b) my rate is [blank], I don't appreciate being asked "well, how sexual will you get on camera?" and "do you really expect to be paid for every shoot you do with me?" I ended up blocking that guy because I have better things to do than listen to some creep try to talk me into doing porn for free. My guess is that for every model who Doesn't Get It, there's at least one photographer who has the same problem. The difference is that usually they display their behaviour in private e-mails or at shoots, not in the forums, so it isn't seen as much. Oct 07 06 04:24 pm Link I would love to! if only I lived closer Oct 07 06 04:39 pm Link People who don't, can't, or won't read are one of the biggest annonyances. "Hi, your shoot sounds great." "Great, let's set something up." "Great here are my rates." "Ahh...the rate of pay for the shoot is listed in the casting call." "Oh I couldn't work for that!" "Bye" Also people who tag or email to let you know they are interested in working with you. I had one recently who let me know she was interested in working with me. Yet when I look on her profile she says she specifically does not do nudes of any kind. Did you even read my profile before contacting me? I asked her if she changed her mind about doing nudes? Oh no, she couldn't do any nudes! Then why did you contact me. Oct 08 06 01:28 pm Link Off with there heads.....Or off to the chipper..you pick.. LOL Oct 08 06 01:40 pm Link I also love models who confirm, and than 2 days before the shoot ask how they are getting to the shoot site. If you don't have a ride, don't reply to a casting!!!! Oct 08 06 01:43 pm Link I am appalled that this can happen on the internet! Oct 08 06 01:50 pm Link |
