What does shooting for "TOG" stand for?
Thanks ahead of time for any help I had an out-of-state model ask me if I "wanted to shoot for TOG?" Is that some like pay for Travel OR Gas? or what? Thanks, Dave Sep 14 11 09:24 am Link You shoot with a Tog, not for Tog. Photographer Some are offended being called a Tog... I couldn't care less. Sep 14 11 09:34 am Link travel or gas is still paying the model. just a question of how much you wind up paying. we've started hosting models in exchange for shoots (there's a model in the back room right now). the traveling models are really great to work with. Sep 14 11 09:34 am Link Believe it or not - she means "Together! Lol. Shoot me!" TOG = Together ...always something new to learn. Sep 14 11 10:01 am Link Sounds like she's confused Tog for TFP Sep 14 11 10:04 am Link MyFunkypixel wrote: Funny how sometimes the simplest answers elude us... I would have NEVER thought that "Tog" meant together... Sep 14 11 10:09 am Link MyFunkypixel wrote: Then she should have dropped the "for". The grammar is confusing, as is the use of the term. Sep 14 11 10:27 am Link What does shooting for "TOG" stand for? Maybe they're shooting with someone who only possesses the talents, skills and abilities of one quarter of a pho/tog/rap/her... ... Sep 14 11 10:36 am Link I use the term photog for short is that considered disrespectful as well? Sep 14 11 10:50 am Link The genuine answer is almost always a 'doh...I soulda thought of that'. Makes for a fun and harmless thread though. Sep 14 11 11:03 am Link There is someone on MM called TOG. maybe they are shooting with him:) Sep 14 11 11:05 am Link Demon Photographic wrote: 'Shooter' is okay too. Sep 14 11 11:05 am Link I am just a tog so I shoot mods. The tog shot the mod, but he had to shop her a lot before she would use the images for her port. Heck, it was just a TF shoot. More people in the UK would use tog or togs for clothing ( get my togs on ) or the tog insulation value of a duvet, for example. Few people use it for photographer but they tend to think it is a 'hip thing' to do because they've seen people across the pond using it. Those that do use it for photographer tend to get seriously frowned on in the manner that Chavs are. Sep 14 11 11:29 am Link MyFunkypixel wrote: Doug Jantz wrote: Where's the fun in that. Well, not the Crap Shooter part... or at least I hope not! Haha! Sep 14 11 08:21 pm Link I kinda wish Tog was more accepted, it's sure easier to type than photographer!!:-))) Sep 14 11 08:22 pm Link I am hearing a lot about how, in these rough times, photographers need to stay ahead of their competition and to separate themselves from the run of the mill GWCs in order to survive. I sort of wish all the photographers in my area do start to call themselves togs. That way I will be the only photographer left. Well, sir, what do you do for a living? I am a Tog. Oh? A what... frog? No, a Tog. You know, a pro Tog. What does a Protog do? BE what do you do for a living? I am a professional photographer. In the real world of photography, such as commercial, wedding and portrait photographers, I believe photographer sounds so much more .. I donno... Professional? Sep 15 11 08:26 am Link This is why I really hate text speak in posts or emails. I can almost understand using it in a text to save space since you do have a limit for any given text. But in a post on a forum or email? Really? It's that hard to spell out a word? This is a perfect example. The reader may have no idea what you are talking about. The one that gets me is when people write "I heart such and such." The word "love" has one less letter. I know it comes from using the heart symbol. But when they use the word "heart"? ??? People DO judge you by the words you use. Even if it is the "in" thing. Sep 15 11 08:36 am Link Photography by BE wrote: lol Sep 15 11 08:40 am Link toglodyte .. really old photographers..
