I was talking to a photographer the other day who was impressed with some of my work...Before doing a shoot with me he wanted to see more of my work.. I photoshared with him on yahoo, but shared some of my worst pics that were not photoshopped.  I get an email the next day with the same pics I photoshared, but he photoshopped them himself without my permission. I didn't ask him to photoshop pictures I share with him because its work done by another photographer...He says if he wanted to steal my pics he can take them off of model mayhem recreate the pic, and make it his own by posting on his page.  The photographer would never know becausee people do it all the time....I said but the person wouldn't want to get sued.  His response it would be more for court costs...

Now I know people still pics...To the photographers who have to steal others work to get on top they will never get ahead in life...Every photographer has their own style, and I'm sure they will recognize their work if you steal...

I did not ask this photographer to photoshop my pic I photoshared so why did he do? He sends back to me, and tell me its his signature on my pic, but it's the work of another photographer?  I looked at his work, and it is not the greatest.. I'm thinking he is taking pics from others pages, and recreating their face...He showed me a couple of pics, and asked me if the models were cute, but I know its not his work...I wonder what he is going to do with those pics being that I said model was pretty...Recreate their face, and claim the work as his....Why do photographers do this, and is there something that can be done about this?

Sincerely,

Quianna

Photographers don't do this, "photographers" do.  Leave this guy alone and tell your other guy to be looking out for his pics in places he didn't put them.

Dont worry, Im the other photographer.  If this scum bag photographer puts my images anywhere or calls them his, I will sue him and I have the resources to do it.  I also will place his name on every list and include his name on my page.  If you need images to call your own.  Buy a yourself a photography book and learn to shoot shoot.  Q told me who you are.  I would suggest you leave the real photographers work the fuck alone, James Rich.

That totally sucks!

Sounds like an ass-kicking's in order big_smile

Check out my portfolios copyright disclaimer link at the bottom of each page on www.crphotography.com

I had a Superior Court Judge laugh his ass off when he read this, then requested that I bring all cases in front of him so he can enforce the last paragraph of copyright violation.

Q, good looking out for your photog. I would like to know the name of this theif and his MM# please. If you wish to be discrete I completely understand, please just message me with the info.
We all know of this problem but why not throw something out there that may help, at the very least; wouldn't hurt.
I'm going to post a new thread titled. Photo Snatcher's Catcher thread smile
Like said in this thread, other MMers noticing work on pages they shouldn't be... networking, word of mouth, 6 degree of seperation, this thread isn't for people to report normal suspicions and so on that's for the mods to handle and "contact a mod" link. this thread is to put the heads up out there about noticing a specific model or photog's work on a page in question. See if it helps.

Why isn't there a no right click on this site (at least enabled for the portfolios)???

Yes, I know... There are ways around no right clicking, but it'd at least be something to make thieves think twice.

Jayzuss!!  Finally, someone who gets it!

Referring this guy a photographer is as absurd as taking dog shit, slathering it in ranch dressing & leaves and calling it a garden party salad.

This is some random dude who's stealing people's photos.  He's done nothing to deserve a title like photographer...

Consequently, the moment someone decides to steal my photos is the moment I've arrived.  An as-yet-unattained-goal, you might say...

As photographer we accuse model of being paranoid when they insist on bringing escorts etc: then we see post like this.

These kind of sickos make life more difficult for genuine photographer. Maybe there needs to be a "Wall of Shame" for guys like this.

urheartsdesire2,

You might want to consider changing your avatar. I looked at your port and I'm sure that you have more to share with the world of your beautiful self than just your butt..

I don't think disabling the right click or low res images is the answer.  Enforcement and naming would be better.  That said, how crap am I?  No one ever pinched my photos.  If they did though I would persue things through the court system and name them on the forum.

Does anyone actually use Digimark?
