I thought this video was empowering.  Not just for us bigger gals, but for all women in general who strive to break molds and negative stereotypes. smile

Please, do enjoy.

oh no problem at all wink I figure with all the escort and flake threads, and why curvy is better than skinny and vice versa, something light hearted would be good wink

Soooo the message is... we should replace excessively skinny with excessively overweight? :-)

I think I'd strive for a healthy, fit, proportional body to be the fashion standard, myself.

This.

I'd rather be slim and healthy, than obese and in danger of diabetes, heart failure and others, or skeletal and be in danger of mal-nutrition, again heart failure, hair loss, and others.

What people don't seem to understand is that slim doesnt always equal to being healthy.  True, indeed being larger does increase your chances for medical conditions, but so does being extremely skinny.  Malnutrition exists for those who are larger and those who are smaller.

Merriam-Webster's Medical Dictionary - Cite This Source
Main Entry: mal·nu·tri·tion
Pronunciation: "mal-n(y)u-'trish-&n
Function: noun
: faulty nutrition due to inadequate or unbalanced intake of nutrients or their impaired assimilation or utilization —mal·nu·tri·tion·al /-&l/ adjective

malnutrition

n : a state of poor nutrition; can result from insufficient or excessive or unbalanced diet or from inability to absorb foods

I've been an obese person for most of my life and I have the thickest head of hair of anyone I know.  Genetics also contribute to hair loss yanno?

But I digress.  I'm glad a couple of you enjoyed the video and saw the humor in it.

I saw the humour in it, and I agree that it's empowering towards women who feel like they're having super-skinny models shoved in their face all the time.

However, neither obesity or being so skinny your bones stick out is healthy. I did in fact state this - being ultra skinny also increases your chances of heart failure because it has to work extra hard to keep you warm etc.

One of the side effects of being mal-nutritioned is losing your hair, as well as the less common effect growing a layer of "fur" on your skin to do what the natural fat should do.

Good, now that we've got that cleared up... Let's enjoy the rest of our night! *cheese*

sorry that you feel that way.  I could reccommend a doctor who could give you some sleeping aides. smile

or if you'd like, since we live in the most obese country in the world, I can just slip something in your drink that'll make you live forever wink

It may seem like a lighthearted video to you, but the problem is in our society with telling everyone it's ok to be obese!  America is the FATTEST nation in the world.

Ford is coming out with a "W" version of all it's popular cars, the "W" stands for WIDE!  Personally I think it's disgusting that America has no spine to tell FAT people that it's not healthy.

You can tell Smokers that smoking will kill them, but you can't tell a Fat person that being Fat is going to kill them?  Bullshit!

Obesity kills!  It's not something to laugh at...

Amen to that. Precisely why I commented what I did. "Empowering" is the last thing I'd want that video to be.
