Are you making it clear to the photographers you are working with what you are looking for in images?  If that is not done and the photographer is left to determine the content on his or her own....then there is no telling what you might end up with.  If it is TFP.....well..that is one reason to pay a photographer...so you know what you pay for is what you will get...rather than get what they feel best fits their portfolio.

Very good point. That's why the project i'm casting now is PAID.

My problem is that browsing the portfolios all I see is skin skin skin, and not much fashion. If I'm going to pay the photographer, I wanted to see example the he or she can shoot fashion.

Perhaps it is just Atlanta.

Personally, I like the fact that most of the people here shoot booty and boobs.  It actually makes my crap seem unique...

I don't think the OP is saying they bother her....I think the point she's making is she wants to style FASHION shoots, and is having a hard time finding many photographers in her area who shoot this.  The problem isn't the photograpers don't exist-they just aren't here at BOOTY CENTRAL.  Where ANYONE that can afford a camera can call themselves a photographer, and post photos of nekkid womens to most everyone's delight!

She want's fashion shoots, move to NY or at least LA.  She'd be hard pressed to find an abundance of Fashion shooter in ANY town where 70 percent of the market is commercial print and urban glamour/ fashion.

That's like me being an up and coming rapper in Seattle in the 90's and pissing and moaning about there being too much Grunge.

Piss and moan all you want....I'd rather point my lenses toward Vogue and GQ than Maxim and King.  Maybe she sounds a bit frustrated-but there's nothing wrong with wanting to do something special instead of maintaing the staus...and there's PLENTY of fashion work in ATL....you just have to make it happen yourself....Jezebel, Peach, Atlanta, all publish monthly fashion editorials. I personally have worked on fashion shoots here for The Source, GQ, Cargo, and a product piece for Maxim (all published and in my stylist port...#127026)

i didn't say they weren't there I said they weren't abundant and they aren't definately.  At least not in comparrison.

If people want to act there is plenty of acting work in Detroit, but if they SERIOUSLY want to act they need to move to LA.  If they want to do comedy there are comdey clubs in tennessee constantly booking,  but if they want to SERIOUSLY do comedy and mecca to NY should be in the works.  And if you want to do fashion photography/ modeling/ styling, you can find  SOME work in your hometown, but if this is what you're trying to make a CAREER move to NY or at least LA.

And point your lens where you want, I point mine to whoever is signing the check.

My port is all about fashion.  It's got so much fashion that I may have to take some out of it.

Interesting timing.  I started a different thread about dumping my entire port and doing just fashion.  Should take me a few weeks to look like a whole new photographer. yikes)

there really isn't much of a market for it here, it's probably more like 95% commercial, but it can be done, like Greg said.

If you want online fashion photography, then go to The Fashion Only Forum at http://www.duroi.com/fashionforum/.  The folks there are very fashion oriented, and serious about it.  It isn't easy to be accepted there, but there really isn't anyplace else quite as good.
