There have been many threads about theives,pervs, and scams in general. I have only found a couple of sites mentioned positively and I, like many, have been contacted by several "pay to get listings" sites (see the "too spoiled" thread)

I find it very difficult to find gigs/auditions/castings in the Indy area...does anyone have any advice on how to go about it?

In Indy, Craigs List is the only one I am aware of.  You have to hunt for it and be careful of the scams, but you may get some good work from it.  http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/

Look under Gigs/Talent,Creative,or Event - Jobs/marketing/pr/ad, art/media/design - Community/artists or a few of the forums under arts or beauty show jobs for models

I was gonna say CraigsList too.
