Do the SCAM dance.
I'm 100% positive this isn't legit, and I'm not responding to their email....make me feel like I'm right? scammers wrote: Aug 11 06 12:23 pm Link Nemi Bea wrote: I wonder what the $75 consultation/guarantee fee is going to get you. Aug 11 06 12:36 pm Link Imago wrote: this makes me think of all those poetry/writing "contests" that you always "win" and then just have to pay a hefty fee for publication... Aug 11 06 12:40 pm Link This definitely doesn't sound legit. I wouldn't bother with a response, either. Did you ever send any pics to [email protected]? If not, I wonder how they got your email address...but I supposed stranger things have happened in the world of internet modeling, right? Aug 11 06 12:41 pm Link P.S. Not that you should believe everything on the Internet, but this is an interesting tidbit: http://www.easybackgroundcheck.com/diam … lcast.html Aug 11 06 12:41 pm Link The whole thing looks fishy, but the part near the end where they mention payday loans? WTF? Scammity scam scam scam. Aug 11 06 12:47 pm Link Veena J wrote: Craigslist I guess? Aug 11 06 12:51 pm Link Nemi Bea wrote: Yep, that sounds about right! Aug 11 06 12:52 pm Link I don't think I would email "pleasecastme" haha Aug 11 06 01:30 pm Link since they happen to be based in MD and dont take a comission from the client a unnamed cell phone company and the commercial happens to be in Baltimore.. My theory is maybe they set up a fake set like pretend its a client and shoot down there so wit I forget if they said they would pay you or not and how much so that might kill my point but if they staged a shoot then it would be free to them and they would get that job guarentee thing..maybe Aug 11 06 01:50 pm Link Synthetic Shadows wrote: this makes me think of all those poetry/writing "contests" that you always "win" and then just have to pay a hefty fee for publication... I've won tons of poetry contests, only to be dissappointed by a "fee"...sounds like a scam. Aug 11 06 01:55 pm Link the advance fee, the AOL e-mail address, and that report that got linked all sound TERRIBLY suspicious Aug 11 06 02:02 pm Link Synthetic Shadows wrote: Hey!! one of my peoms got "published" by one of those things. I ordered two books and there it was...page 1!!!!! (what a shock). What they didn't know was that I spent 7 years as a pressman in a printshop and the first page in the poetry book was just a bit different in size, the printing was not a press print but that of an inkjet (unlike the rest of the book) and the page was inserted seperately. LOL But whatever, I still like it. Aug 11 06 02:06 pm Link A scam pure and simple, and not very well thought out either. At my age I have seen all sorts that use the hopes of people to take their money, but one rule of thumb is always the red flag, never accept any offer that ask you to pay money such as a consultation fee or what everup front for a job. Aug 11 06 02:07 pm Link They had me until it said "Paypal" for payment. Not amex, m/c, visa, discover but PayPal. . .says to me that they can't afford or otherwise don't have a merchant account. I don't know of any legitimate and "established" (i.e. Dunn and Bradstreet credible) businesses that don't have a merchant account. The businesses I know that have PayPal accounts are home based businesses, eBay or something like that. Mind you there's nothing wrong with using PayPal. . .I do. . .but then again. . .I'm not an "established" business but a person that sells stuff from time to time. Aug 11 06 02:32 pm Link sound familiar I don't believe in coincidences. I got this e mail about a week ago when I called to ask a few questions all I got was a machine telling me to start my monolouge for a voice audition it took forever to get the number the whole no contact info should have been a dead giveaway for me.
