1.  Skill with their instrument of choice.
2.  An art aesthetic.
3.  The willingness to work with me.

What do you expect? We all know that only female models are qualified to analyse a good photographer.

'Tis true. Neither male models nor female photographers exist.

1.  The photographer should be imaginative and creative.
2.  The photographer should seek to understand their subject/model.
3.  The photographer must love the art of it.

And most important which I will not "list" is a photographer with a great sense of humor.

1.  The photographer should view me as a collaborator.  I enjoy taking direction, but don't be so locked into the ONE frame you had in mind that you won't play around with others as I move.
2.  The photographer should be willing to discuss ideas with me. I can't tell you how many times a shot could have been better if the photographer had told me his idea in even more detail before the shot, so i could have brought more materials to make it work.
3.  The photographer should be someone I can trust. This includes all issues, being up front about any intentions regarding nude shots, honesty about studio settings(I had one GWC whose studio was in his basement with LOADS of nude barbies-he paid well, but i REFUSE to do it again! Wish i'd known THAT before i agreed to shoot...)
Many of the photographers I've worked with have become my friends, and I'm happy to shoot with them multiple times BECAUSE of these reasons.
My two cents...

I think you are right on target:
1.  Be a collaborator.
2.  Discuss ideas (which is a big part of collaboration)
3.  Be trustworthy.

Hey, I asked for your opinion; so, it is supposed to be about you!

Yea, Ladies is way too PC for me. Generally, at a shoot, I refer to the models as "my bitches." And the refer to me as "Papi".

LOL.  And you are fascinated by the heavens as well.   I'm impressed.  (not that I expect you to drop a gonad over  it!)

I haven't quite figured out what to refer to female photographers as yet.

Not only am I fascinated by the heavens, but I control them too. See the Crab Nebula? That's my work. To bring this thread to its logical tangent...back like 12 years ago, when Microsoft Space Simulator was out. I used to play with that thing all day, changing the time compression, and flying from one solar point of interest, to another. And so forth.

Also, I did drop a gonad, but I picked it up and now it's back in place.

Aaron and KM:

How about you two girls go elsewhere with your obnoxious comments.  The thread will be constructive without you.  Please go away and rant on another thread.

1. An instant ease and comfort level with the photographer is important.
2. The ability to give direction if I am posing incorrectly and/or give direction to help me since I can't see myself during the shoot.
3.  A photographer that is willing to listen to my ideas as well. A collaboration of sorts.

I'm not a girl but I'm gonna answer anyway. So there. tongue

IMO, the three things that a photographer SHOULD have...

1. a sense of light (you'd be surprised how many photographers don't have that sense)
2. their own sense of aesthetic even if its not really my thing (aka the "eye")
3. to be always willing to learn new things (you'd be astounded how many people ask for critiques then get all defensive when they don't like what you have to say)

Folks like you, and the juvenile you quote, make it very hard to accomplish anything constructive here.  You and Aaron both need to grow up.

Thanks, Tiffany, for your input.  Perhaps something useful will come out of this thread in spite of the destructive efforts of others.  I hope to come up with some sort of pattern that will help me and other mature photographers.  I suppose we just have to endure the immature juveniles on MM who just want to wreck things.

You should give it a try sometime. It's how I got to shoot Kate Moss.

You continue to distinguish yourself with your unruly childish antics.  I would say, "grow up" again, but you, Farenell, and Corbett are decades away from that.  Please go make life miserable for people somewhere else.
