I've been trying to get more photo gigs and stuff like that. But I mostly get promotional work, which I can't complain because they pay  good. And I like the work,  But how can I lift myself from this stump and get other types of work

I would think that living in El Paso would have a pretty strong influence on the kinds of jobs available.

As far as getting photo gigs (paying gigs), Its a buyers market; so good luck to ya, but theres really nothin you can do. Just keep your eyes open for oportunities, do TFP when you can, and take care of yourself. The rest will come if it comes.

How do you go about trying to scout work?

At your height and weight, I think you would have a hard time getting signed on with an agency even if you moved to a better location (Los Angeles, Chicago, NYC, Miami).

I took a look at your portfolio.  There are a few great images there (this one https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=416604 is fantastic), but your portfolio as a whole makes you come across as an alternative model for the most part.  There is NO money to be made as a non-nude alt. model.  Trust me, I know.  Promotional gigs are as good as it gets.  (And don't even pay particularly well up here.)

I think that if you want to make yourself more marketable in your area, you'll need images that are more mainstream.  Girl next door type stuff.  But leave one or two of the edgier ones in your portfolio to show diversity.

Yeah I've gotten into contact with a few photogs that I could get other different types of genres of pics.  Yeah my weight sucks right now, but I just had a baby so thats my excuse although I'm dedicated to getting back to my old 140.  Thanks for the comment too!
